Squeaking from off side rear

I've been giving the car a good clean today and have just come back from a short drive and have noticed a squeaking noise coming from the off side rear of the car. I've had a look and can't see anything broken and am wondering if its the shock absorber on its way out or if its a squeaky spring??

I've had a look at ECP website and they have a good offer on shock absorbers at the moment, are Sachs shocks any good?? Their reduced from £88 to £58, but don't want to buy til I know what the problem is.

Had a squeak on miine o/s/r thought it was a damper by the sound. Once up on the ramp discovered a bush away replaced it and squeak disappeared. Would recommend getting it up on ramp to see if anything is visibly gone before ordering dampers etc.

Mine is doing this too and a bit of research hints at a worn bush like macck said. Shouldn't be too difficult to fix, I'm getting mine done with a service next month.

Thanks lads, hopefully a worn bush is what it is. I'm booked in for an MOT on Tuesday morning, would it be a fail if its a worn bush?? Might cancel if it would be as its not due for another 2 weeks anyway.

As it's o/s/r it could also be the brake pad wear sensor - they've been known to squeak even when not applying the brakes!

Yeah if there is a bush away and they spot it they should fail it. Put mine through last year for its first MOT and it failed on a rear control arm bush.

Not discounting your opinion, but the noise can be heard mainly on speed bumps and uneven surfaces, can also hear it when I push down on the osr, this is why I was thinking shock absorber or spring on the way out, worn bush sounds plausible also.

Could it still be a brake pad wear sensor with what I've described above??

Thanks for the help guys, turns out it was a bush that was on its way out. I finally managed to get a day off so had the bush taken care of and also had the car MOT'd which it passed without any advisories. The tester also praised me on the condition of my car which pleased me.

As for the bush, how much would that normally be to replace at a specialists?? I paid £59 which I thought was very good, also genuine bush from bmw used.

I think it's just a rubber ring that's perished and needed replacing as it was worn

Yeah, the price of a bush was alot better than getting the shocks replaced

Just had my shock absorbers check and they need replacing, originals shocks from my local dealer £141.00 each plus £360 to fit. My local Kwik Fit can do supply and fit of Monroe shock absorbers for £188. Are Monroe shock absorbers any good?

I had it on the ramp today at Kwik Fit and the rear offside shock absorber is leaking. Rather than change just one I was told it would make more sense to replace both.

Point taken , however they do need changing. Are Monroe shocks any good or would you recommend something else?

for what it's worth and for the same money i would recommend Koni FSD. Uses standard springs. I had a set fitted a month or go or so and am very happy with them
