2006 Pre-LCI E90 Angel eyes LED conversion.
Hi all,
Got an 06 pre-LCI E90 325i with Xenons and the horrible yellow angel eyes (what were BMW thinking!!). I'm looking to change the angel eyes to the bright LED ones. Can anyone recommend a reputable online retailer of a suitable replacement, preferrably in the UK? I'd like to have BMW genuine parts but when I asked, they told me they don't manufacture the LED conversion of the angel eyes for my car. Ideally I'd like a direct swap, but understand this might not be feasible, however I'd like to avoid any unnecessary mods to any of the housings (such as drilling holes etc. etc.). Furthemore, is there a way of ensuring the new LED angel eyes will match the brightness (K value?) of the current xenon headlights? I don't want super bright angel eyes that look like they've obviously been replaced as they're so much brighter than the actual headlights. Is there a way of finding out the current K value of my headlights??? Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Cheers in advance, JB.

I had eyed up these: http://www.burgertuning.com/BMW_LED_angel_eyes.html What do you reckon? Which LUX product would you recommend? Thanks.

Yes, just need to change bulb. I would email Lux for their advice on what to use. I have halogen headlights and use the LUX LCI halogen bulbs which will not work with xenons. They have bulbs for xenons with a selection of color temps. Good Luck.

Thanks for that, they look great.
I was looking at option 2 on the Burger Tuning website. Pretty sure they are pre-LCI no??

New LED angel eyes. Such a vast improvement on the original ones.

Photos as requested by a member.
1. Before (on the left) and after (on the right) 2. Front on, taken early evening hence they look brighter.

Hey sorry I have a non-lighting related question for your car...What grill do you have? Is it just painted to match the car colour? Also have you sprayed the eyebrows on yur headlights?

Hi,
The grill is the standard E90 pre-LCI grill in the standard chrome effect finish. The eyebrows have not been sprayed. What you see is standard apart from the LED angel eyes. Cheers.

Hi JB84
Sorry to resurrect an old thread - how did you find fitting them? Did you remove wheels and inner arches to get access to the back of the light? Any tips? Looks like a pain to fit them. These are showing as £60 now from mstyle (!).

///ajd,
No worries. Fitting them wasn't as easy as I would have liked, but not difficult either. Just time consuming. The LCI ones are MUCH easier to replace as it's done from within the engine bay so simply a bonnet up job. This is how I did it: 1. Jack up and remove the wheel. 2. Remove the plastic wheel arch lining. Not too difficult - 5 or 6 screws if I remember rightly and it slots in and out of place with ease. 3. Open the back of the angel eye housing, undo the retaining bolts and remove the current bulb. 4. Insert new bulb and ensure it's dead straight when you tighten up the retaining bolts otherwise some parts of the angel eye will be brighter than others. 5. Replace angel eye housing, plastic wheel arch lining and wheel. It's not a difficult job, just more time consuming than anything else. Given that I didn't really know what I was doing when I replaced them, it took me about an hour to do the whole job. Could be done much quicker though. Definitely worth removing the wheel to do the job - makes it considerably easier. In my opinion it's a job worth doing. Such an easy and well priced mod that improves the look massively. I have since changed my grilles to matte black ones. These combined with bright white angel eyes and xenons looks mean Hope that helps. Cheers, J.

Thanks J,
It is a job of necessity for me as one bulb has blown. Just need to work out where to get the bulbs. Horizon LED seems recommended, but £40! Crikey.
