Question Quick Tyre Advice Please

Its that time again ( ) and i have been shopping around for tyres.

Ive found a bargain set which has the sizes i need, but an unusual size on front. My question is will 235/35/19 fit on the front of my E92, instead of the usual 225/35/19.

Anyone know if they would, or any reason i wouldnt want to do it from my very untechnical view a wider tryre would help protect my wheels, but would they rub or affect the car too much ?

Sorry for another boring tyre question guys

Thanks in advance !

Chris, 235/35/19's on the front will present no problems, many others including myself run that size along with 265's on the rear

Alpina's run the above sizes as standard.

As posters have said, no physical problems - though your mileometer and speedo will be out. It will under read mileage and will also under read speed. (An extra 1.1% diameter to your wheel/tyre)

.............But as the car already over reads speed by 5mph or so, it will just over read less if you see what I mean!!!

you get a similar difference when changing from worn to new tyres..

They are Nexon's , only budgets... but i got an AMAZING deal on them £380 the set (2 x 265/30/19 & 2 x 235/35/19)

the best i could find for Conti's was £820 and they were smaller sizes, i have a lot of stuff i can spend the difference on

there is a lot to be said for small independant tyre dealers imo

That is cheap - I just put a full set Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas on mine this morning (265/30 and 235/35) - no problems at all. £650ish at Elite

The ride is completely different - so smooth!

Make sure you get the pressures right - softer sidewalls on the Vreds than even other non-RFTs - thinking 38psi front 40psi rear would do the trick at first... Oh, and don't trust the guys at Elite to the pressures right... they're very good at everything else, except getting the pressures correct!!!

I think the standard on the RFT's was 2.8 bar (40 psi) rear and 2.6 bar (37 psi) front. I was advised by my dealer to run .2 bar over, i.e 3 on the back (44 psi) and 2.8 on the front.

Elite recommended 4 psi over standard, which would be 44 psi rear and 41 on the front.

Or is this too high?

You might find that you'll wear down the centres too quickly. Have a bit of an experiment - start off with the lower pressures and work your way up. I personally think 40psi on the front is a little too high, but then again I have a different preference of how I want my car to handle and feel.
