Hey guys, I want to put an Intake in my N55, but I cannot decide which one to go with.

I like how the AFE looks cleaner under the hood, but more people have been buying the Injen. I just want the one that puts out the most power!

Can someone just tell me which one is better.

Or if anything, just tell me which one you would buy if you were in my place.

I prob. wouldn't waste my time/money on an intake ... I paid almost nothing for mine, which is why i opted for the Injen. If i could do it again i would probably take AFE just because i dont really like the way the Injen looks in the engine bay.

+1.

All the intakes do is make the bay look cooler, but from a performance aspect... Not worth the money, You almost get a better bang for your buck sticking to the stock box and getting a drop in.

Now if you don't care about the above and want a sexy engine bay, go for the AFE, if you don't care, go for the injen (I suggest wrinkle black though)

Both look great, both get great gains, and both I believe are pretty reasonably priced as well. Either way you go, I'm sure you'll be really happy.

Thank you for the responses but I want to put an intake on my car, I don't care that it's not worth the money. I just want to know which one is a better waste of money.

The Injen is more like a ram air intake instead of cold air as it is not sealed away from the engine bay heat.

Having said that I do have an Injen and it works pretty alright, just a few minor issues with fitment and a high-pitch beeping noise at 4500 rpm but then again someone posted in my help thread that they experience this beep with their AFE as well.

Go with injen. it sounds great. you will get addicted to the blow-off-valve-like sound.
I heard AFE is not as loud as injen.

Have the fitment problems been corrected because I hear about how Injein updated something on the new ones being produced.

Any feedback?

aluminum piping hitting the hood problem has been fixed on their pipe.
i think my air filter rubs a bit with the hood, but i don't see that as big issue.

I think I want to go with the AFE just so I don't have to deal with all of the fitment issues the Injen has.

In the end there both going to be about the same right?

The injen fitment issue isn't that huge, it just takes some patience and fiddling to get the cone and midsection pipes in the right positions so they don't hit the underside of the hood.

I could be wrong but I believe there's one very tricky step with installing the AFE where if you overtighten the AFE midsection onto the stock tube the intake just pops right off. I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere on a thread...
