Pinch protection sunroof light on. HELP!
Just bought a used 2007 328i sedan with only 54k and since the day i bought it i realized there was something wrong with the sunroof. The sunroof does tilt up and down but it wont open, ive tried resetting the sunroof by holding it for about 30 secs or so just like it says in other posts ive read, but i still get no solution to my problem. I really dont want to pay an arm an a leg at the dealership. anything im missing here?
Please help! Thank you |

do you hear any noise after the tilt? like its trying to move but isn't? should always check everything before, not meaning to kick you when you down, just saying, go through the rest of the car see if any other issues. best bet without knowing what is wrong is to take it to an indy shop in your area to see if they can get it done for you better than stealership..

Pushing the button makes the sunroof open tilting up.
Pushing towards the front end of the car closes the sunroof. Pulling towards the back of the car opens the sunroof completely. The last one I explained seems like your not doing that. |

Try holding the sunroof button in the vent position (pressing the center button in) until its done a full sweep(full open-full close). Sometimes the motors lose their initialization. This Is the procedure to initialize it.

Have you found your issue yet? I'm having the exact same problem. Tried the re-initialization and nothing I opened it and closed it with the special tool in the trunk moved freely, I also lubed it just to make sure but nothing. Are you getting the Anti-Trap Error as well?

I just ordered a sunroof motor on ebay should be in by Tuesday I'll let you know if that fixed it for me.
After using the special tool to open it manually I've been able to open it about half way with the switch although only about 2" at a time which is why I think it's the motor or at least the hall sensors in the motor that are bad. This link http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=468137 has info on the electrical system that controls the roof I tried looking for a more detailed schematic but wasn't able to. If anyone has the Bentley manual an can PDF the sunroof pages that would be greatly appreciated. |
