For more proof, here's the shipping info which you can get by entering the VIN into the tracking website...
https://att.2wglobal.com/gstattweb/o...uickSearchPage Delivered from Fremantle on 15-05-2008. EDIT: Also from the carsales pics, it looks like a 6-speed Auto (rather than 7-speed DCT). Last edited by bcoz; 07-20-2012 at 11:09 PM.. Reason: re Auto vs DCT |

Probably means that it has done all the cabling for a cd changer. All the stealership had to do is wack in the cd changer in the boot, and probably code it as well.

Checked my VIN - now, I like and know leather and my E46 had leather (and it showed as it aged) - I was sure my 2007 E90 had plastic seats due to the hardness and faux texture but it seems, according to my VIN data, I have Leder Dakota/schwarz (LCSW).
I don't speak German but this reads like leather to me - a big surprise. Is the E90 Dakota leather designed to be faux vinyl? |

Are you saying correct, I do have leather and it does a very good job of pretending to by vinyl.
Or are you saying BMW Dakota Leather is actually vinyl (which is what I thought I had before I read my VIN and which leads me to continue my quest for some leather seats to drop into the car at some stage). And if this is the case how the hell can BMW get away with calling vinyl leather??? |

OK just did some research.
Real leather... as in real thick, processed, vinyl like leather. But still leather. Must have had the higher quality leather on my old E46. |

Yes, cheap nasty leather - that's about as good a quality as a vinyl bench seat from a 1970s Holden Ute.

This site and a few other VIN decoder sites ask for the last 7 digits of my VIN. According to my rego papers, the last 7 are Z93676. I only have 6 numbers and all the sites won't decode my VIN. Is my rego missing an number off the VIN? What else could it be?
edit: I'm an idiot. Its JZ93676, with two letters and two numbers. Will try again! |
