Suspension rebuild for e91 Touring -what to do??
Hi,
My e91 LCI 328xi Touring Msport needs new shocks and sway bar bushings. The car frequently hits the bumpstops on the shocks and the bushings squeak when I go over speedbumps. I'm very familiar with suspension tuning and upgrades for the track but I know very little about BMW suspension and tuning them for the road. Even though my car is an Msport it's an xi so it has the standard suspension. The car only has 100K Kms (60K miles) so I'm surprised that I need to do this work but I've read here that the stock shocks are not robust and it's not uncommon have excess wear. I live in Ontario Canada so winters are harsh and roads are generally not great. I want to 'recondition' to the suspension and bring the ride to better than new. I don't need to lower the car (I'm not after a 'look' or stance) and will not drive it on track so no need for coilovers. I've read lots of posts here but frankly the information is overwhelming and contradictory. What should I do or specifically change? Thanks for your help. |

I'm about to refresh my suspension too and I'm also from Ontario Canada, specifically the GTA and Kitchener-Waterloo area. I'm going with a new set of koni FSD's and keeping my stock ZSP springs to retain the current ride height. I'm also replacing my tie rods assemblies on both sides, strut and shock mounts, etc.
