Coin jingling INSIDE my door... Help? Please? UPDATE!! Resolved
hey guys so i accidentally dropped a quarter through my driver side window and it actually fell inside the door panel. Now every time i open the door or hit a bump while driving, i hear this annoying jingle. It looks to me like the door is welded together and there is no way of me getting the quarter ( i know its a quarter because theres a little hole on the bottom of the door big enough to see the actual coin). Can someone explain to me how exactly i can remove the coin? or is this something that the stupid stealership would have to take care of?
guys i actually got the damn quarter out !! i used a pair of wire cutters and cut the little hole to make it a little bigger enough for the quarter to slip right out. Thanks a lot for all the different ideas but at least if anyone ever encounters the predicament i was faced with, you will know how to get it out ! although it may leave a ugly hole..

How did you accomplish such a feat? I'm genuinely curious since it seems like a 1 in a million chance that it'd slip of the attendant's hand in a drive-thru.
Anyway, I would say to take something long and thin, like screwdriver or something through the hole on the right side of the picture (if that is one) and start pushing the quarter towards it, then put a piece of tape on the end of it and yank the quarter out, then take that quarter and reward yourself with a handful of M&Ms or rubber aliens here (I don't mean it insultingly or whatever, I just can't think of anything else that's worth a quarter nowadays).

No clue but NEFARIOUS seems to have a good idea. If not I would drop another quarter in the other door to even out the sound. Or it's just another sound because my car rattles.

Maybe combine the 2: Find a long, sturdy stick, tape it to the quarter and bring it to the nearest opening big enough for it to be retrieved by hand. Sorry, that trimming looked like an opening in the panel; I even looked online and even at my Chilton's Manual before replying earlier and of course they don't have a picture of the whole door for reference.
I don't suggest it since you'll probably have sound/weather insulation degradation, but have you tried removing the liner?

Are quarters magnetic?
Are quarters magnetic?
Magnet on the end of stick. The make a tool with a telescoping handle with a magnet on the end to fish for lost nuts and screws and such. The inner door panel isn't that hard to get off but you have to get though the vapor barrier to. http://bavariansoundwerks.com/produc...dan_Logic7.pdf http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...DIY+door+panel |

No need to remove it. Buy some glue like GOOP, apply it liberally to the coin, push it up a bit and just let it stick to the door. Only you and the readers of this post will know it's there.

1) Hold coin steady with needle nose pliars and drill a small hole through it.
2) Find a way to thread some fishing line down to it and tie it to the coin. (Could be done with a coat hanger. Just make sure you protect the window) 3) Carefully remove coin Or you could just take off the door panel. Or the goop idea above is brilliant. That way you'll always have an emergency quarter! |

You could, like some others have recommended, try to put a small amount of adhesive on the coin and push it a little higher so that it doesn't block the drain hole. Or bite the bullet and pull the door panel and fish it out.

The quarter is just sitting there loling at you.
Anyway.. Maybe try taking some sharp cutters and cut it in half. Snip one side of it then the other. Then maybe it will drop threw the hole? |

I would keep dropping quarters in there until the mass is sufficient enough to not shift position under trauma.

Maybe you can try flipping the car upside down and shaking it out... Kidding!

They remove the insulating trim panel and vacuum it.
