Is the only xi difference the springs and shocks?

Is the difference between, nonsport, sport and xi, only the springs and shocks?

So if all three versions had kw v3 then they would be equal?

wait huh?

xi is AWD, i is RWD

you can get an i in non sport or sport and the sport will include the zsp suspension (and correct me if I'm wrong but that includes springs/struts AND thicker sway bars or just springs and struts?)

you can get an xi in non sport or sport but neither will include the zsp suspension because the xi's front struts are different than the i's.

They only give you the sport seats, increased top speed limiter and sport steering wheel and possibly larger staggered rims/w summer tires on the xi w/ the zsp package. on the i they give you all of that + the suspension upgrade.

The xi does not have upgraded suspension whether you get the sports package or not.

I just waited to clarify that the springs and shocks were the only sports package difference. So any 3 series with coilovers would have identical suspensions.

Im fairly certain that the xi has a bigger rear sway bar stock, regardless of the sports package.

So an xi with its already bigger rear sway, and coilovers.......has me drooling.

I wish that somebody would buy all my stuff I got for sale so I can get coilovers!!!!! argh!!!!

Anything is better than the XI standard struts/springs, but the car still understeers even with a non staggered tires setup.

AWD does have the wonderful advantage of mid-corner and corner exit. Rear wheel drive will have to ease out of the corner, where XI's can mash the throttle.

One other difference - the i uses aluminum components whereas the xi uses heavier steel components.

Which components? So if all the models had kw v3s, the xi would still have different steel components?

Yes. Some of the front end suspension components on the XI are steel based as apposed to aluminum as that on the 'i'.

Is there a question? I can feel one.

lol, yeah theres a question!! Which specific component? I want to know details. I thought that kw v3 would get me the same as an i with v3s.

Hey, what happened to your cat fruit helmet avatar, lol?! I still haven't gotten new suspension yet. Im still trying to figure out what I want and im lazy.

I wouldn't waste the extra $800 on the V3's unless you plan to track your car seriously. The V1's for the xi will give you the nice height adjustment along with the better performance handling suspension.

Im getting the v1s most likely not the v3. I just used v3 for my example. I was gonna get the h&r since they are cheaper but the rust issue has me worried.

hahaha, ok cool. yeah I'd do the H&R's too but in Wisconsin the sand/salt in the winter would destroy those bad boys.

335Xi coupes have the same aluminum components as the 335i.

Seems to be two opposite answers. What suspension components are we even talking about that are either aluminum or steel?

I researched this before I bought my car, however, I can not remember exactly what the claimed differences were at the time. I believe some believed/believe that the lower control arms are steel on a 335Xi coupe compared to aluminum on a 335i coupe. The point became insignificant when I learned that each suspension used the same materials. The only difference I could find was the (obvious) ride height difference.

The 335Xi sedan may be different; I seem to remember something, but I haven't had enough coffee and my girlfriend is calling so I'm not going to research this now or anytime soon.
