Does the iPod shut itself off after you shut the ignition off?
I always forget to shut the iPod off after I shut down the car.
I haven't checked if my iPod shuts off after I turn the ignition off in the car if it's plugged into the cigarette lighter adapter in the center console. Does anyone know if it shuts down automatically after the ignition is turned off? |

Depends. The iPod is oblivious to the fact that it's in your car, so the behavior is no different than if you left it on the kitchen table. If you're listening to an album or playlist it will shut off after that list has finished playing. If you are listening to the entire library or random shuffle, etc. then it will keep running until it dies.

My iPod "pauses" every time the cable is pulled out of the headphone jack.

Otherwise everytime you leave your BMW you have to automatically shut off your iPod manually. |

I know not for sure, was wondering the same. But I do know that my ipod nano goes into pause, I have to hit play to resume where I last left it (i.e. ignition off)

it dependes on the generation of iPods.
The auto-pause function has appeared from the 4th generation and afterwards. These ipods went to pause mode after you pull out the ear bud or head sets, and turns off themselves after a couple of minutes. It does not have anything to do with the power source.
