So the new amp will be 100% plug and play and only amp the front and rear speakers on the non L7 cars correct?

Will the old amp still be in place to amp the under seat subs?

And specs would be a great help.

I was impressed with stage 1 and can't wait for stage 2
Yes, 100% Plug and Play.

I just got an email back from my engineer and the graphs and detailed specs are coming!

I added the Stage 1 L7 upgrade to my existing order for the uf110 sub - now we will see how they sound together... and my guess is that this will be an excellent combo.

Thank you Halston for getting my order going!

I am pretty level headed but why are you continuing to troll this post?

I am not a sound engineer, I do not build nor do I design speakers. BSW's engineers and lead install tech does that. Due to this fact I don't have response graphs and detailed speaker charts and specs in front of me.

When a question is asked that I do not have the answer to I ask an expert and get the proper answer. So I emailed my sound engineer and lead designer and asked for them to get me all the specs. Now I am waiting on that.

These speakers are 1 off drivers. We can't just go to Alpine's website and copy and post a link to a PDF.

I do know the upgrade sounds great!

i genuinely wanted to know what the specs are for the drivers, and you dont have a response. I mean a salesperson should have at least basic specs, i dont necessarily need graphs etc, but you give nothing more than "they sound great." you dont need to be a sound engineer to just say they are made of this material, the voice coil is this, the freq response is this, etc. im not going to drop $650 on something without more info than that, i guess wanting to be an informed customer means im trolling then whatever.

Your right, I do not have a response right this second. I guess I could just make something up that sounds 'right' but I am not going to do that. I am going to wait till I have the exact specs and materials.

I said on the 28th that I had emailed and contacted my engineer. They were not in the office Thanksgiving Week and Weekend so I am waiting. It is now Monday and like myself I am sure they are busy from the Holiday weekend. If you would give me a chance to get the specs you are looking for it would be much appreciated.

I have some material and design specs here:

Midbass/Midrange:

-Midbass drivers typically handle the range of 60-2000hz

-The cones are a fiberglass composite. This material exhibits a good balance of stiffness, damping, mass and transmission speed. Unlike paper, the glass composite cone is less affected by heat/moisture, nor does it breakdown or soften. And unlike plastic cones, itmaintains its tonal character over a wide temperature range

-The shape of the cone is curvilinear much like our allow subwoofers. This adds stiffness to the cone to control breakup modes and smooth the rolloff responses. The natural tone is free of harsh peaks.

-The surrounds are again a rubber compound, and much more reliable than the common foam surrounds. The shape/thickness/compound perfectly terminates the cone edge.

-Motors utilize high-grade ferritres and quality pole components. Voice coils are over-sized and of the latest low-distortion materials.

Tweeters:

-Tweeters are used above 2000hz

-Dome tweeters are custom made to fit the factory locations. In some cases, they snap into the factory bezels, while others include special brackets.

-The domes are shaped to optimize resonance and control the breakup modes. They are made of a proprietary silk blend, and precisely coated for damping. They employ integral surrounds to minimize edge reflections and further reduce distortions.

-Magnets are Neo-Type for utmost compact size, and maximum flux.

-They offer a natural timbre, with clean highs, presence, and wide-dynamic range.

As I wait for my Stage 1 and sub to arrive - I am thinking about doing a dynamat (or similar product) installation as well, especially since the door panels are coming off anyways.

Does anyone have any experience doing this to an e90? Are there any trouble spots that I should focus on? Is this even worth it?

Thanks in advance!

*edit* woops they have arrived! Pics coming!

The BSW Stage 1 for my E90 L7 *and* the Uf110 Sub have arrived tonight! These won't be installed until I get my car, but I wanted to share some pics with the community... so all my opinions are here just by looking at the package alone.

These were delivered by FedEx as you see above...

...And inside the well packaged boxes all the smaller boxes containing the "goods" are revealed.

Note the packaging... for anyone concerned about their product making a safe delivery - don't worry about it. Everything was packed really well!

Good to have the new sub protected!

Here is all of the contents, Stage 1, tool set, and the sub/amp plus the installation kit for the sub.

A close-up of the terminals on the sub - very nice quality!

Looks nice! - almost a shame to hide it away where no-one can see.

Now I don't have my car yet to test the fit, but you can see the detail and work that went into creating this enclosure. Very nice craftsmenship! The whole package is lighter than it looks, although seems to be very solid.

Fosgate amp - I've never owned one (always went JL) but this amp gets good reviews. It's nice to see a quality amp paired up with the custom sub...

Tweeters - I like the fact that these are plug and play. Minimal crimping etc = good.

These seem to be very well built.

Rear Tweets - same as fronts I believe... with the added bracket.

...And another pic.

I'm not sure of the material they are using for the cones here, but it looks very durable. Rubber material used on the surround, i'm guessing the stock L7 is cotton. The magnets are covered with a rubber ring, I presume this is here for a reason...

More connectors - plug and play also = good.

Close up of the mid-range...

Everything about these seems tailored to the car, which is nice. I suppose BSW could have sold speakers and then have us screw around with getting them to fit just right.... I'm guessing these pop in really easy.

One more pic - I see why people who have installed this system say it's easy. I love the OEM connectors.

This is all for the subwoofer - one thing I do like is knowing that all the stuff I need for the install is here... no wondering if I got the right this or that.... no guess work.

Wiring for the sub -

And that's it! For your viewing pleasure... and bandwidth consumption! I can hardly wait to hear the system! My dealer says my car will be here by XMAS...so the waiting continues!

Thanks for that big picture review before posting! I am sorry about FedEx. Everyone just beats the packaging it is really sad!

Let us know how the install and resulting sound quality turn out. You are going to be jamming out soon!

I replied to your email about the sound deadening. If you want to go all out you want as close to 100% coverage as possible on all the door panels. Some even put filler/foam into the door shells themselves, fill panels with foam. You can really go crazy! We just deaden up the doors when we do installs here.

*edit*

From that terminal shot and the resulting bokeh it appears you are shooting with a dSLR. Spill the beans... Body? Lens? Details! Fellow Photog here
