I used to use K&N with my old cars, ever a K&N ruined my MAS on a e46 and Mercedes ML320 I have not gone back. The car was not designed to breath through oil saturated cotton. If it was it would be like that on high performance sport cars from the factory. The oil ruins sensors, go back to paper, get a good filter. Do not buy FRAM!

Sounds to me like you had too much oil on your filter. If you oil the filter properly you shouldn't have an issue. Dry cotton is an alternative to oil if you really are that sketch about using an oil filter. I've run K&N products on 5 different vehicles and I've never had an issue including 2 BMW's, an Audi, a V6 Firebird and a 99 Trans Am.

I put them in my car with factory oil, I had two MAS go out on me within weeks of putting K&N on my car. I guess I have had a bad experiance, I want to run them on my car but I am scared to do so...

I've ran injector cleaners and did something similar to sea-foam on my car and it runs top notch. Not to mention I do clear my vanos, timings, throttle and fuel/air adaptations every-time I do some mods. so far so good. the car runs STRONG.

I do notice when I a have to drive like a granny for extended periods (suburban commute, argh), say over the course of a few weeks without really opening the car up, it does seem to mellow out a lot - throttle and power feel dialed back. Doesn't really wake up until I romp it for a bit.

Thought it was just me getting old and gray, but maybe there is something going on in the OBC.

Waiting on Dimsum to bust the myth.

Basically you need some BMW software.
You can use it to clear adaptations back to the way it were stock. Relearning everything. I'm sure the BT Tool has something like this.

Sorry I am new to BMW but where do you get the said software and tool to do this??

Also where are our fuel filters and about how much are they?? All I seem to find is a fuel filter repair kit online. Is the redline fuel system cleaner good? Also someone mentioned a new oxygen sensor what is the change interval on those?

To the OP I hope you figured out whats holding the car back.

my 06 325i got 120k MILES and still runs strong. Had minor problems like plugs went bad @ 80k, eccentric shaft sensor @ 110k other than that...it still feels like a new car to me. i regularly change my oil every 7.5k and use chevron techron every 3k. replace your filter every 10k or recharge your oiled filter if you have an aftermarket intake. oh by the way try bms pbx it will help alot especially on throttle sensitivity.

Try running a quart low on oil and add a quart of Tranny fluid? I find it works better than seafoam and other alternatives.
