This may be not the right forum to post this.... here goes:

I have paid $500+ to CA DMV for the renewal of my 2007 335i registration, this was just one month ago. I am now planning to export this car out of the USA due to the job-related relocation so I contacted DMV to find out if I can get some money back from my registration since I only going to use it for less than 2 months in CA so the other 10+ months it will not be on CA roads...

Guess what?

No money back, they said.

It does not make any sense to me... what about people who live in the Sierra and only drive their sports cars during non-winter months? They still need to pay for the whole year?

It would surprise me if the DMV would pro-rate any time that the car is not spent on US roads. You're not getting anything.

Yep, I renewed my registration on the Honda and traded it days later - SOL says the fine State of California! Getting money from any government agency is like pulling teeth

the state of CA doesn't believe in the concept of "money back".
