DAB Digital Radio

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to know if anyone has done a retro fit for DAB Digital Radio in their E9x in Australia. If so, what's needed?

The DAB+ unit is built-in on the CIC control unit from factory, so for a proper retrofit, you will have to replace the complete CIC control unit.
There is a retrofit kit available in the parts catalog, but I have never seen it, and don't know how it is intergrated into the vehicle's system.

According to http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=663502 there is a part number 65502310288 that is for a DAB+ module. But I haven't found anyone that has fitted it yet.

Jin, does this match the part number that you are talking about? If not what are they?

The AutoDAB product is supposed to work on DAB+ in Australia on my 2011 335i E92 according to The Car Kit Company who can supply it (I had to tell them it was available!!). I will be ordering one in a few weeks.

Otherwise to retrofit, yes you need a different CIC plus you also need a different diplexer unit behind the rear window brake light that uses the antenna in the rear windscreen. You then have to run the coax back to the CIC. Then you have to code it in. I spoke to bimmer-retrofit in Canada and they can do it but the CIC availability is very rare, plus massive changover cost.

So I think AutoDAB is the best way forward......

I now have this working. I can receive 55 digital DAB+ radio stations on my E92.
