another ticket question...

Pay lawyer $200 to make it go away, or go to court?

Laser got me doing 81mph in a 65mph zone.
My speedometer and tachometer are "broken".
Trooper observed it himself and noted it on the ticket.

So it costs you $200 to keep 15,000 miles from being recorded on your car.... pay up.

Depends if you want to go to court

I would get an inspection or something done that says your speedometer is not working and take it to court. Most likely will be dropped anyway.

In FL proving that your spedo doesn't work will only get you another ticket....

Think twice about that defense it like saying I did not break this law since I was braking this other law. Saying the speedometer was not accurate is one thing saying it was not working at all it a totally different matter and most states have laws that say you car must be in good working order.

as long as LEO has his Lidar gun calibration certification up to date it will be hard to beat in court by yourself.

Don't think it's the same in MD, never had that problem. Why not get a lawyer then? Why would going to court even be an option for the OP

Didn't realize having a non-functioning speedo was an offense... I'll just pay my lawyer to make it go away.

Damn I havent had a ticket in maybe 2 years or so but last ticket I had was like $70 for the lawyer. Then of course you gotta pay the court fees which ends ups being about the cost of the ticket when all is said and done, but no points and no school/court.

With the right lawyer with the right connections, it is pretty much a guarantee. Been there a couple of times myself.

How was the trooper able to observe that your speedo wasn't working?

He went for a ride with you?

prolly revved the engine and saw the tach needle didn't move but its a mute point because defective equipment does not excuse you from a ticket.

here's where jammin' is illegal:

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...43287494,d.dmQ

laser jammers fall under the jurisdiction of the US Food and Drug Admin. whereas radar jammers fall under the FCC and is a federal offense.
