29F4 and 29F5
Hello folks,
I've tried and tried to look up on threads for these errors but the original posters failed to follow up on an answer/resolution to the problem so here i am. In short, i do not want to keep throwing money at the car, i own a 06 325i n52b25 e90. The symptoms: engine vibrates, you can also feel it in the shifter knob and the idle is rough at times + the car pulses. Mind you i changed both solenoids and 2A82 disappeared, but after deleting 29F4 and 29F5 keep coming back. Changed so far: spark plugs with bosch, solenoids with OE, coils with bosch, air filter. What could be the culprit? I narrowed it down to bad cats or o2 sensors....it would be very helpful if anyone could give me the codes to the o2 sensors that need replacing as the car has 4. I understood the pre cat ones should be replaced for this? Thanks in advance.

Anyone? Check Engine Light popped this time, deleted and the car went back to running smooth. The only issue is the random pulsing/vibration.

take out your vanos solenoids and clean them with MAF cleaner. that should handle the first code

I am with you, the second two codes are definitely either cat or O2 sensors. The sensor you need to look at are post cat or downstream O2 sensors as those are the ones that measure cat effectiveness while the upstream sensors are just used to adjust AF ratio.
I'd suggest using a scan tool (I assume inpa can do this but I have no idea how) to look at your O2 sensor values after the car has warmed up. When you first start up they should jump around a bit, but once catalytic converter reaches operating temp should stabilize. Do they continue to jump around or do you get bizarre readings? If not then I'd think the catalytic converter is the culprit. Good luck. |

Does the service engine light pop up or do you notice any performance issues?

Bafta |

It could be a combination of things, either o2 sensor, bad cats or even a bad injector that could be leaking.

Hi,
I was having the same for the last 2 weeks exactly the same error codes not sure if coincidence but they started to appear after i put 30 ltrs Shell 95 Fuel.. And from there started checking the codes actually it can point to either the lambda probes or the cats gone bad (the car is 200k km) but i did my emission tests 2 months ago and everything was more then perfect..so what i did is reset all engine adaptations, reset lambda adaptations and fill up the tank with Shell 100 V Racing + Bardahl injector cleaner aditive and for the past kms i dont have issues. What i observed is i got the error only when driving slow at around 2000rpm Try with high octane fuel + aditive and reset the errors and the adaptations |

Assuming you're buy mileage it's prob the o2's. The Bosch replacement ones are cheap.
