To tint or not to tint...
What do you guys think? I am thinking of doing 20% rear windows only. Do you guys think tint is really necessary for that "look"?

I went 35% on front and back and it looks great. When I got mine done I was trying to choose between 20 and 35. No matter what you choose, besides no tint, you will be satisfied with, imo

i'd do all the windows or nothing. i did staggered before (15% in back, 35% front too) and it always bothered me. Now i have 30% all around and i'm happy

if you're going to tint - do the entire car or none of it. Also, if you're worried about cops, don't go darker than legal limit - stick to something between 35-45% and they should leave you alone.
I myself am thinking that I may not even tint at all. I've got Space Grey and shadowline trim - I don't like the blocked look of black on grey....I kinda wish I had the silver trim to break it up....it's the designer in me. |

I actually quite like the look of only the back tinted, I saw an IS250 with 20% rear and stock front and it does look very good

It all comes back to you and the look your going for. But i say Tint it! You wont regret it, but its all or nothing IMO. I didnt want much of a black block look nor did i want a bigger staggered difference from front to back. I did 30% on front 20% all the way around back and 50% on the front windshield. I think its a great combo not too light not too dark. Some days I wish I would have went darker but on any given day it compliments the car and looks better then stock.

I put off tinting my car for nearly a year. I just couldn't handle the Texas heat so I finally just did it. I'm happy I did because it does have that "look" now. I have the same color car as you and trust me, it looks good tinted.

Screw it. You just gotta say yolo and get 30-35% all around. Im in NJ aswell and plan on doing all around 30%, obviously its illegal but there are chances that the cop will just give you a warning and ask you to remove it. Worst case, he will give you a ticket, you take it to court and show a picture of the front tints removed and the fee will be waived. This way you can enjoy the whole car tinted for as long as you get caught and only be penalized by having to remove the front two tints. You say you like the look of only the back tinted so this is pretty much a win-win for you. Tints really give that "look" as you say to the car. Have fun!

Tint is a must .
If black interier , 35% all around, cops should be fine . If beige interier , 20% all around ,cops wont be fine. Edit : just saw ur signature even i have Titanium silver with black interier, I have 35% all around and it looks good |

I waited about 6 months to decide and it was the heat of the summer that finally made me do it.
I have a convertible so staggered tint was simply not an option since it would look stupid with the top down but windows up. Therefore I went very mild. I have 50% on the sides (front & back) and 40% on the rear window. Knock on wood, I have never had an issue with cops, even with the law stating "The windshield and front driver's side and passenger's side windows cannot receive any aftermarket tinting.". I have been stopped at lights side by side with cops, have had them park next to my car at the local deli and not once have they given my any issues. Sure there are days I wish I went darker but the tint does it's job. It provides a good "look" to the car, reduces the heat inside the car when parked and makes it more comfortable overall. I'd say tint it but I am in the all or nothing group. Going lighter still gives it a good look and doesn't get the negative attention. For what it's worth I went with Formula 1 Pinnacle for it's heat rejection and radar compatible properties. |
