My drive to work is 100% city and I still get 26mpg even with the 300m altitude change in my route.

Avg 36.1 mpg driving from Atlanta to Philadelphia. Got this number by dividing miles driven by gallons refueled. Also, first post since I picked up my 335d Thursday.

for those of you getting 35, 36+ MPG or who know they get good highway mileage, what speed do you maintain on the freeway?

Got 40 even on an interstate run from SC to MD. about 500 miles. When cruising I was between 65 and 75, with some bursts higher and portions lower, as well as some non-interstate at the last 60 or so miles. That's my best tank, but others on the same trip were 36+, 38+, and 39+ with varying road conditions and fuel input. No cruise control. jBD at 80%, but that's probably not relevant. Michelin PSS about 38 psi all around. Power Service additive every tank. Just providing some possible factors, mostly probably statistical noise.

I do 75 miles per day round trip. 400 miles into this tank and averaging 35.6 mpg. 60% hwy / 40% rural road stop and go.

I wish there was a way to lock the car into 6th gear. On the rural roads at about 40 to 55mph 6th is perfect, but sometimes traffic slows to ~35mph. Even in manual mode, the car automatically downshifts if it falls below a certain speed or rpm. Sucks. The car has the torque to maintain 6th gear even at lower speeds.

Also, for those with JBD, believe your on board mpg computer is no longer accurate right? Doesn't the JBD trick the DDE into thinking it is using less fuel than it actually is using?

Could be, but I never use the onboard MPG numbers anyway. I just use the number of miles driven since my last fill up, and then I do the math manually with the number of gallons I fill up the tank with. And then put it into Fuelly.com and my own expenses spreadsheet for fuel and all the other auto expenses and mileage points.

thats what has been thrown around here, but on mine with the JBD if the computer is off at all its showing too low of MPG, confirmed with my last trip. Its still pretty close though, tank was about 30.5 and the computer shows 30.1, had just got the JBD back from its meth modification and the driving was...spirited

I'm 50/50 highway/city driving and I put my foot in it. So far doing this driving I get about 27-28MPG.

On a recent trip from Atlanta, GA to Daytona Beach, FL I drove 80MPH most of the way through GA and once in FL I picked it up to 83-85MPH. I fueled in Atlanta prior to getting on I-75 and when I fueled up from 1/4 tank in Daytona I was averaging over 37MPG.

Power Service Diesel Kleen + Cetane Boost during spring, summer, fall; a winter version during cold months.

Another thing I have recently noticed. I have been using the A/C non-stop since I bought the car. So that is a factor in my mileage. Recently my A/C belt has started to squeal a bit on startup, so because I am in no mood to take the time to take it to the dealer (and remove my JBD, etc.), I have started running without the A/C, even though it has been rather warm lately. I just run with the windows down. Hey, I lived in Singapore for 6 years so the heat doesn't bother me. Anyway, I haven't done a full tank yet w/o A/C, but I have noticed that the computer is telling me I am going to get about 580-590 miles on this tank, whereas before with this kind of driving I would be around 500-510 on a tank. Will report when I refill next, and probably keep doing it for a tank or so just to confirm.

Thanks, since I plan on keeping my d for several years, I think an additive to help the injectors can only help. What do you do, add about a capful at each fill-up?

The container tells you how much to use. With a nearly complete fill-up of 14 U.S. gals or so, I typically use 4 oz. Considerably more than a cap-full.

Be advised, the BMW manual tells you "no additives."

I use 4oz of Opti-Lube XPD pretty much every tank. I notice that the computer usually off (pessimistic) about 2 MPG.

My road trip today with JBD at 100% averaging around 80 MPH highway, indicated 32 MPG, Fuelly (hand-calc) is actually 34 MPG
