Modify OEM exhaust to sound like PE exhaust

Bumping this again lol, thinking about doing this as I have a muffler delete and between the drone with catless downpipes and the fact that my tips don't line up/stick out to far I'm kinda of getting tired of it, I really don't want to loose that much loudness though. So I'm thinking of either adding some tree branch resonators or trying this out, I would be removing 90% of the packing, all the perforated pipping as well as the resonator in the right muffler and the secondary cats.

Planning on being at the next UCF Monday night meet? I'd really love to hear your car as I'm kinda getting tired of how quiet mine is but I really cannot/do not want to add any drone in the car.

Yea I should be at the one on 3/11 I have had to miss the last couple due to my car being held longer than expected at the paint shop but excited to get back out there

Bump.. I have an OEM muffler sitting around. If I can get it to sound close to a performance exhaust I would trash my Magnaflows ASAP !!

Anyone still working on getting this project done ?

Javy im in Sofla and had this done, i replaced all perforated piping, left all the wool material inside and removed the mini resonator inside. Also i had Magnaflow mufflers before and i can tell you that i like my set up better now. Is it PE sound? That i dont know since i dont have one to compare. No one seems to have the performance exhaust in my area. I even tried going to the local dealer to listen but they didn't have a car with it strapped on already. I also wanted to hear the 335is but that was unavailable too. I bet there are unsold cars sitting if you wanted to hear it in person. Somewhere at least..

What happens of you just remove the back boxes all together and just have a straight pipe from the last cat to the tips?

loud, drone, but has a nice deep sound with pop. Look up youtube videos of muffler deletes

You guys with E90's and catless DP's should just delete your secondary cats. Sounds amazing imo. This is my setup (VRSF catless DP, Secondary cat delete, and everything else stock otherwise).

Sounds good but if you have an AT every-time it shifts you will have rasp and it sounds like pooop! Ask me how i know, I'm going to try a muffler delete but i installed 200 cell race cats which got rid of the rasp. I dont think the MT guys are getting any rasp at all. I will post a vid of when I do it. It should be in the next week or two!

Yes there is go to the beginning of the thread and read some have posted videos. Not sure what you are saying about the DP's every car has DP the only difference is some are catted and some are not.

Here's EgoSammich's car. We cut the outter pipe on the passenger side muffler only and removed about 25% of the packing. Car has downpipes on it. Garage door was closed so has a bit of an echo through the shop. We'll have more videos later. Cold start is pretty damn loud with the modification. And it has a nice growl under load.

What are your mods exactly? Just catless DP's or secondary cat delete too? And how much packing did you remove and from which side? E90 or E92?

Would help if you'd said that...

You cut the pipe out totally? Or replaced it? Removed packing from just the passenger side or both?
