Today, in reality, CPO is nothing more than an extended warranty, the dealership and BMW hope they make $$$$ off of it as they do the tire warranties, protection packages, extended maintenance...

Ha, I got my 07 E92 (17K miles) a year ago and it was in the shop the day after I got it for it's first HPFP. I've had another put in in February with ~13K on that HPFP. Considering, I love the car and will probably keep it till the CPO warranty expires.

The redundancy is unbearable. I was naive and went under the assumption that Yeah, this car will have problems, but the warrenty will fix it, and i dont have to worry about a damn thing. Ha, wow was i a fool. Definitely should have picked up a Mercedes or an Audi. oh BMW, Good from Far, but Far from Good.

Well.....I HATE to add to this debate, but I need the internet's help.

2011 335xi N55 (single turbo)

CEL from day 1, stays on, goes off, and has done that ~ 7 times in 1200 miles. Currently it's on.

Erratic idle sometimes......600rpm normally, but moves from 400 to 1,000 rpm ~20% of the time.

Has stalled twice at idle with the clutch in.

Wish I could give you engine fault codes, but I'm 450 miles from a dealer. She'll be taken in Thursday for a full diagnosis......

Any thoughts?

This is obscene and unacceptable in a new vehicle IMO.

Yeah, kind of grasping at straws until it's at the dealer.

Unacceptable? You are being much more polite the words going thru my head.

Yikes, the N55 does this as well? How is this car co. going to maintain it's reputation? Or are there early N55's that are pre 943 pumps, or, is it something else?

Brought my car to the dealer last week, they told me they are going to update the software and then see if it long cranks the next morning.

God i hope it long cranks on them!!!

Dont feel like getting it back and then having to go back to the dealer because of the same proble that will eventually come back

I threw 2AAF codes and 2FBF codes, multiple times.

Sorry for more post whoring on this...but I did get a half engine/engine malfunction, reduced power this past weekend while driving on the autobahn. I didn't get a single symptom nor do I have any now (i.e. long cranks.etc.). And it never came back on once I stopped and re-started the car.

I have recently installed the JB3 2.0 and Injen DCI. I have a BT cable on the way.

Just because I'm too lazy to go search this thread...do you (trackrat or anyone else who knows) know what the codes will usually be (or always) if it's the HPFP. I did read the beginning of the thread again and I see that he says it may not throw a code indicating it's the HPFP. So maybe my question is confusing me at this point...

I did see in another thread some guy saying that he got the 2FBF.....and that that means it's probably the HPFP?

Actually, this is a wonderfully accepted business practice. It's done all the time with electronics (cell phones, printers, cameras), and in the auto business, rarely is any large ticket item new. But, for kicks I did see the list price of the 943 was what $370? And the 933 is about $260. So there is definitely cost-cutting going on.

BMW is not looking to build anything that lasts forever--just until the original and extended warranties are expired.

I made sure everyone around me knew i was flabbergasted that my car was not fixed. I was sitting in the client lounge studying for my damn chem final. Everyone stay away from Riverside, CA BMW dealership. Good luck to the rest of you, and I hope this doesnt occur to anyone else.
I bought my first BMW car there at Riverside in 2005, and it was my last with that dealership. I go to SavageBMW in Ontario now.

BTW, you should not have been charged anything for work involving the HPFP. It has it's own warranty till 10 yr/120K miles, and the latest directive from BMW is to update the software first, the software load is not an elective.

My 335i was given the latest software and the -943 pump at 108,5XX miles. My out-of-pocket expense was zero, nada, nothing, no dinero, whatsoever.

TrackRat, is that info about the new HPFP after the remanu'd 933 from a reliable source or just your guess?

I wonder if the remanu'd HPFP + more lenient limp mode requirements is doing the trick....

Well been getting long cranks since around 2K miles, around 3K it got really bad... have a 11/09 productions E90 LCI 335i m-sport

Was throwing 2FBF codes mutlitple times, and 2AAF code once the day before i brought it to the dealer.

Brought it to the dealer and they told me they updated my software before they can replace the HPFP, so they did.

>>

DIS Test showed FC 2FBF. Refrerenced SIB 12 55 06
Checked low side fuel pressure and found 5.7 BAR
Then checked vehicle intergration level and found it was below what was specified in SIB.
Programmed complete vehicle including CAS and test drove as PER SIB. Let sit overnight and no longer a long crank when starting.

>>

So my first question is what is the SIB, anyone have a copy?

What version software am i on?

And what is CAS?
My navi looks different and im wondering if they also updated the navi aswell as the DME?

Car started good all day today, will keep it stock until the end of the week to see if i can make it long crank and throw any codes again.

Power seems to be back, def a power loss prior to bringing it in, seems like that power is back.

Just got my 07 E92 back this afternoon, got the replacement 933 pump. Owned the car since new now has 48K miles and this is the first pump replaced. Went in for programming two weeks ago to fix the SES light and reduced power but didn't work so had to order the pump. These pumps are on backorder so was not able to bring the car in until yesterday.

everything covered under warranty, no hassles from SA got great followup to let me know what's going on with the car and let me know when to pickup. Cross my fingers hope this pump is good for atleast another 48K mi.

Drove from Prescott Arizona to Salt Lake City today, 10+ hour drive. Outside temperature was showing 107 degrees F as I sat in a traffic jam at Hoover Dam. My ' 07 335 was a lemon law buyback, so obviously has a history of failures. The last work was done at least a couple months prior my purchase in April so I'm pretty sure I have a pre-943 HPFP. That was going through my mind as I sat there in traffic, but no hiccups today or since I bought the car 2k miles ago. Averaged 29.4 mpg traveling 80-90 mph most of the trip today. That's 2-3 mpg than my Mazda 6 with a V6.
