My Custom iPhone dock!

Hey guys, I've been lurking around for a while trying to find a clean way to dock my iPhone and I decided to make my own. I made this dock using sheet metal, an iPhone dock adapter, matte black 3M vinyl, and parts from the iPhone dock from Apple. I didn't take pictures along the way because I thought it was going to turn out horrible, but I don't think it came out too bad? What do you guys think?

Total cost (minus the fact that I already had the adapter and dock already)= $20.
I haven't hooked it up so that it charges the iphone yet and I play music wirelessly through the Blackberry stereo gateway. I made this solely to have the iPhone docked while I'm driving.

I was thinking that too... iphone/ipod docks don't exactly anchor the device. I bet you could probably fling it back on a hard launch too (I've done that with a dash mounted GPS on my gf's stg1 GTI), but I bet it's fine just daily driving.

OP: very clean job! It looks perfect!

Niice, I wish someone can make a iPhone holder that clips on the central AC vent that's tiltable so you can watch movies too while u drive..

Hey guys, thanks for the compliments. As far as flinging back, I don't really have that problem. If you have the right dock adapter, the connector holds it pretty tight. I tried a soft launch and it didn't fall out.
