they're probably a bit firmer but not so much that I would replace them.

who told you that? Run-flat's are awesome...the ride is very smooth.

no one told me. it's simply the feel I get from the ride and comparing it to years of driving on non-run flats.

Depends on what you mean by performance. Check the latest BMW magazine. The article there claims that run-flats have superior performance and actually increase mileage.
