Combox Telematics
I've decided to replace my non working TCU/MULF2 setup with a combox telematics. However there are two BMW part #'s.
84109257163(Real OEM lists for E90) or 84109257153 (REAL OEM lists for F10) I am wondering if one of those does not require FSC codes to work (I am thinking the E90 one)? Or are they basically the same thing and/or it still depends on my CIC software version? Would both of them have all of the available options if I choose to enable them, as in BMW connected drive, BMW apps, bluetooth streaming, Album covers, BMW Live (if I go that route)? I don't think I will activate BMW live as I enjoy BMW remote quite a bit and I have a friend who works at BMW and should be able to code my car with the new BMW telematics to communicate with BMW. What's interesting is that most e90's retrofitting a combox list the one for the f series. I'll probably just stick with that given that others have had success with that part number. Anyone else have experience with both of these combox's? Especially the e90 part number.
Thanks Jim |

ive read some where f series doesn't work in e series and vice versa....
fsc code is dependant on cic software not combox... combox telematics I don't think is really needed , as you cant use the telematics part anyway as bmw will not update your assist account for the new sim , please correct me if im wrong with the last part. |

You can get bluetooth streaming, ipod album art, and the office menu without a FSC. BMW apps will need an FSC, though you can downgrade the CIC to v41 and get apps without a FSC.

You got a specific link to a post on that issue? That's exactly what I am trying to avoid. Like I said though, the few posts that list the part number for the combox telematics that they used, either had the old part number or they listed the part number for the f-series. Hence why I am asking for clarification. Yes I want to install a combox with telematics. I've seen a couple of combox's with the F-series part number on ebay for around $200. I have not seen any with the series part number, which is also another reason I want to be sure I am getting something that should work with my CIC. Jim |

hi there, I cant find any hard proof at the moment but from what ive read the combox telematics uses the can bus, and the can bus on E and F series are completely different protocols.
