Searching for a DD

I am searching for a DD. A few months ago I retired the M coupe from DD duty and it has become a weekend car. I have been driving a 97 E36 M3 as my DD.

I am now searching for a new DD. I would like to stick to around a $10,000 budget so that I can pay cash

I am open to all kinds of suggestions. I have been thinking about an E46 maybe. I am open to older and newer cars. I've owned just about everything under the sun.

Dunno man, DD is where I typically have all my fun. I'd stick with the M3.

I am considering an E36 M3 as well. Just one that was taken better care of and has lower mileage. This one was driven on salty roads, not garaged, etc.

Does it have to be a BMW? Are there any other considerations? AWD helpful? Need room inside? Etc etc etc.

Subaru WRX comes to mind, that thing is bullet proof, AWD, fit and finish leaves something to be desired but it's a blast to drive and cheap to keep up.

So is it mechanically not good or just cosmetically? If I were you I would keep the e36 because it's hard to find a better dd in that price range. You'll be spending another $10k plus more to bring another e36 to tip top condition just fix your current one assuming it doesn't need major work

Does not have to be a BMW. Can be RWD or AWD. I live in Alabama so weather is no issue.

My M3 is cosmetically a little rough but fairly solid mechanically. It just has a ton of miles and a little rust. Plus its a lux. Plus I can actually make money off of it because of how cheap I bought it and find another M3.

I actually found a really nice 98 M3 with a V3 supercharger and 101xxx miles for 12k.

I have considered Mini Coopers but I don't think a turbo Mini can be had for under 10k. An early supercharged one probably can. I think the earlier ones had some reliability issues though.

**EDIT: It actually looks like the price of turbo Minis has dropped under the 10k mark. HMMMM**

I have decided to increase my budget a little. I have decided to search for an E39 M5. Preferably 2001-2003 with the sport interior.

Hard to argue with an e39 M5, if weather wasn't such a pain where I am I would go for that.

If I was to buy another Z4 it would be a roadster. Unfortunately I really need a car with atleast a back seat. That is a great deal on the coupe though!
