Where did you score those mirror caps from??
Man I love your build here, I am torn between going the same way and going m2 or m4. I'm curious to see if your car can bang out a m4 stock or modded. Part of me wants to stay e9x n55 then I'm thinking the market for parts will die shortly. Thoughts?? |

On Sat 10/17, 8pm, I just filled up my car and was on my way home. I was fully stopped and waiting for the traffic light at the off-ramp of Fairway exit of 60-W freeway, then a Ford focus rammed into me from the behind. From my rear view mirror, I saw the car getting off the freeway, travelling really fast and had no indication of slowing down. The driver didn't even try to brake before she hit me at 60+ mph. There were cars in front of me and next to me, so there was nothing I could do besides embrace for impact.
This resulted a 4-car collision. My car protected me to its last breath. I got a open wound on my forehead, some scratches and bruises all over, and felt lower back pain a few days later. None of the people in cars in front of me are injured. The Ford driver was fine too, she tried to turn away to avoid the impact right before the collision, so her passenger side hit my driver side. She also had a passenger in the car which I learned later from the police report was her sister, she was not that lucky, she was passed out at the scene and was taken away by the paramedic, according to the police report, her bladder was exploded from the strangle of seat belt. The Ford driver was very emotional and wouldn't communicate with us. She then tried to fake to be injured when the CHP and paramedics arrived. But the police officer soon found out she's drunk and arrested her on the spot. Here are some pics at the scene: |

Now 2 months have passed. I'm pretty much recovered, I got a reputable attorney to represent the case, my insurance company has paid up for the car, and I am still pursuing proceeds for the bodily injury.
After the insurance company confirmed the car is totaled, I decided to get another 335i. I thought this would be the best option for me because: - I absolutely love this car; - my car was heavily built, and the majority of the aftermarket parts were not damaged from the accident; - I don't want to part out all the parts for dirt cheap, and it would be such a hassle; - I even had some parts en-route when the accident happened. So a few days later I got a CPO 2012 335i E92, M-sport package, alpine white with coral red interior, and only 28K miles: In the meanwhile, I stripped all the parts off from the old car and replaced them with stock parts. |

It was so hard to say goodbye. We had so much fun together, and it scarified itself to save me. I'll be forever grateful, even though the it is now gone, but its spirit will re-live in the new body. I have re-installed all the parts on the new car, with some new parts too. I'll post another build thread for it soon, and let this thread to commemorate the car I lost.

Thank God your car protected you the way it did. I'm going thru a very similar process right now (and also have a thread about it). Was rear ended from a dead stop by someone going 40mph+, went to ER, back pain, the whole 9-yards.
Gosh I hope these incidents don't continue for us E9x owners. Nothing is scarier than someone else being out of control when you have zero ability to avoid the situation. Curious (and if you can't comment due to legal reasons, that's completely understandable), but due to the other driver being under the influence, is her insurance covering everything or are you forced to go after her personally? |

And I am so sorry about having to swap parts. That was the one thing that pissed me off the most when I had to think about it. The idea that I would be forced to pay someone else/ take time out of my own days to swap all of the aftermarket parts I spent countless hours to install- back to stock and into another 335- for no fault of my own. Really glad your ok OP. We should start a support group lol

In case if the driver does not have insurance, you will then need to go after your own insurance company, but only if you have "uninsured motor" coverage in your policy, and you can get as much as needed to treat your injury, within the uninsured motor coverage amount. |

Damn I'm really sorry to hear this. I don't get why people get in the car when they are under the influence of alcohol. It really baffles me. I'm glad you went out and got another car (basically the same). I hope your transition works out man and hope to see some more pics of the new car w/aftermarket parts

Shit this happened down the street from my house.. Lots of bad drivers around Rowland at least you got out of it without any life threatening injuries and a newer 335.

Wow great thread and I am glad you're okay OP. Spent so much time and money on your car and it can all be crushed in a moment. Glad to see you in another E92, let alone AW and Style 230's.

Glad you are OK man, that is scary! I went through a similar ordeal and just got my car back. On my way home back in april, a few deer came out in front of my and I swerved to miss them but ended up overcorrecting and smash a brick post/mailbox. Insurance totaled it out, I bought the car back, and I just picked it up yesterday after being rebuilt. I did not have as much damage as you but our cars were pretty similar!
With the headlights Gullitt did for you, did you have any problems with your adaptive headlights not working correctly? |
