are h&r sport supposed to be like this?
my ride is very, VERY bouncy! like on dips or bumps, the car clearly bounces around
I am thinking about getting h&r racing springs in the meantime until I have the money to afford the KW V2. are the race springs the same as the sport? should I go w/ another brand of springs (maybe all of the H&R springs are really bouncy??) thanks, PJ

BTW I see in your future you have H&R Sport, if I switch mine out, you can purchase mine btw it is better than my stock springs and I love the drop, just a little took bouncy for me
Its nice when you have some girls in the car though

It's not the springs, you should have installed aftermarket shocks as well, that's the problem.

I learned this the hard way as well by installing just springs. The handling is better on smooth pavement but terrible on anything but smooth and the car skips around a lot. I ditched them for TC Kline coilovers, I have a post about them up right now... Just get the KW's or some other quality coilover. I'll never mess around with springs ever again.

Damn.. getting my sports installed on Saturday. We'll see how the ride home is like. I haven't heard about the springs being that bad!
Still on RF's? Maybe it's the roads?

Also, the stock shocks are supposed to wear out sooner. I will probably just get coil-overs rather than replace the shocks at that time. For now, I can deal with the bounciness.

the sport springs are great for a few thousand miles... then your stock shocks begin to wear and that is where your problems start. I know its hard, but its best to do a spring and shock combo, or coilovers off the bat. Unless you want to deal with paying for installation twice, and a bumpy ride.
I personally went the spring first option, and waited till my stock shocks blew, but i did this knowing that I would need to upgrade to coilovers once the stock shocks went. |

It's not the tires, or the road, or the springs, period. The stock shocks are blown. I don't know why people on this forum keep on saying that you can run lowering springs with stock shocks. You can't. They'll blow out, and your car will not only ride like crap, it will also handle like crap and is a safety hazard. How hard is it to get some aftermarket shocks with your springs? If you pay for install twice that's $300 wasted, which is half the cost of a set of shocks. If you can only afford springs, then you shouldn't be lowering your car in the first place because your handling will suffer. Shocks make a MUCH bigger difference in handling than springs do.

This is the main reason why we also recommend installing shocks and springs at the same time. The other reason being that you dont have to pay twice for the same install.

yes, if you dont have the money for KW's then jsut get some Koni sport shocks. They are adjustable as well and I personally think the ride height of my car on H&R sport springs is perfect so just getting Koni sport shocks is perfect for me since ride height adjustment isnt an issue for me. But yes, your bounce is from the shock/spring setup, not just the springs.

I don't think there's a need for coilovers for most drivers. Very few posts about corner balancing and such which are what coilovers are for. I see that most people use coilovers to adjust their ride height but don't corner balance it out which doesn't really utilize the best function of coilovers. I believe that a well matched set of shocks with the right springs are better for most drivers who do not have the time and resources to set everything up.

no no, just go with a spring and shock combination if you cant afford coilovers yet.

after market springs will always be very bouncy with stock shocks.... thats why it is best to pair them up with performance shocks....
