The fastest production diesel vehicle on earth - video review and spec inside :)))
Hello everybody
Ive found some video reviews and thought would share them with you. What do you think about a diesel BMW in M Division ? Would it be more popular than petrol M5 ? I could not imagine it with a remap resulting in well over 400 BHP - could be faster than E90 M3 I sppose Enjoy ! Spec : Six-cylinder in-line diesel engine with M Performance TwinPower Turbo technology, aluminium crankcase, three turbochargers (high-pressure, with variable turbine geometry), common-rail direct injection with piezo injectors, maximum injection pressure: 2,200 bar. Displacement: 2,993 cc, output: 280 kW/381 hp at 4,000 -- 4,400 rpm, max. torque: 740 Nm (546 lb-ft) at 2,000 -- 3 000 rpm, specific output: 93.6 kW/127.3 hp per litre of displacement. Acceleration [0 -- 100 km/h (62 mph)]: 4.7 seconds, top speed: 250 km/h (155 mph), average fuel consumption: 6.3 litres/100 kilometres (44.8 mpg imp), CO2 emissions: 165 g/km, exhaust standard: EU6. A few video reviews : by 'autoblogger' : by 'drive' : 0-250km/h :

quick timing of the 0 to 100 (0 to 162kmh) on the video is about 12 ish seconds which is very similar to my 335d (re mapped)
The power to weight of the 550d at approx 1900kg is 197per ton & a chipped 335d is 210 Not necessarily a fair comparison as mine is chipped but it will be a few years for me until something comes out that has already taken the hit depreciation wise that is better than what I have. |

Listening to the guy in the first video makes me think of the gang leader from police academy.

It's a little behind the 550d, but the 640d I've just got really doesn't feel lacking in the slightest in the real world, and that is coming from a 500hp M6...
The word "lag" just isnt applicable in any way shape or form, and the way this thing picks up from no revs is verging on comical. In the first 500 miles of mixed journeys I am slightly over 40mpg with no effort at all. |

Thats a shame, but maybe they will bring it one sunny day to the UK market That would be fantastic having M350d. That would result in acceleration to 62mph in around 4.6 sec or around it Fingers crossed !

This car will be on sale in the UK in October but will be RWD only - no X drive. I would also like to see this engine in the 3 series- won't happen though. As far as the M550d goes - its priced so close to the M5 that i don't see the point, if it were 5k more than a 535d then i could understand but this car will be £60K plus not including some of the options that are standard on the M5. Makes sense as a touring i suppose as the M5 is saloon only.

I would rather go with 535d as you mentioned whcih comes with the same engine but with 1 turbo less but still produces 313BHP so if you remap it it will produce around 380BHP I suppose. Here it is : http://bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/pricesandspec...%3D%3D,00.html
