It's interesting to see the sketches with the recessed front middle section. The spy pics of the "real" car look to have a raised middle section. I wonder which is accurate. I can't wait to see good pics of the tail! Overall, it looks to be an improvement...
+1 for M-Tech being available at order.:crossing fingers:

If you look at where the front license plate goes... "spy shots" show that section sticking out further than the area of the bumper under the headlights... In the new photos/sketches (not sure which) that area is NOT sticking out (like '06-'08 models). I hope that makes sense... It's a pretty big difference IMO.

Is anyone else confused about the design of the tails? What I don't understand is why would the design of the 3 series changed from L shaped to the current design in 2006 and then 3 yrs later change again to a notched shaped design? Would it constitute that the BMW was not totally happy with who created the 2006 taillight design so then 3 years later they created a "notched" effect? Why not just make it go back to the L shaped to create the look it originated from (history past)?
I think the notched looks better but it still needs some more white in it or at least more yellow. I wonder if that's still possible? |

Hey Mapezzul, (or anyone else for that matter) Do you know what's different about the new aluminum trim compared to the old? Is it similar to the aluminum in the 1-series? (A bit off topic, I know)

One significant change that is not shown in the Pshop is that the mirrors will be different. They will be much larger - and probably more squared (pronounce "uglier"), due to American's inablility to understand how to use and adjust them and the new DOT regulations that require them to be the size of a dressing room mirror to compensate.
Oops, too much editorializing? Anyway, the mirrors WILL be different. Also keep in mind that in the U.S. we will now have the fugly bicycle reflector in the front fender. You'll never see that in the marketing photos (because everyone knows how ugly it is). I'm still on the fence about the cosmetic changes, even though I'm considering a '09 E91. I like the loss of the chrome milk moustache in favor of a proper kidney grill, but I'd have to see those hood ridges in person, or at least better real photos.
