I'm from South Africa and I just changed mine recently with Castrol Final Drive SAF-XJ which is 75w140. It's BMW approved for non LSD and LSD.
My oil was so black and from now on I will change it every 15000km. |

I can't believe they call it lifetime fill, I am thinking of changing mine next year to see how it looks after one year. Last edited by Glim; 08-24-2011 at 09:08 PM.. |

Per the Castrol Spec Sheet: http://www.ge39.com/files/SAF_XO_SAF_XJ_B1174_96.pdf SAF-XO (75w-90) for Open Diffs. (325 - 335) SAF-XJ (75w-140) for LSD Diffs. (M3) Per the BMW TIS: (USA) E9x N52 engines ('06-325i/330i, 328i,) rear diff is designated 188L/188LW and takes SAF-XO (75w-90) with a 1 liter fill. (USA) E9X N54 TT engine [and the M57TU (335d)] rear diff is designated 215L/215LW and takes SAF-XO (75w-90) with a 1.2 liter fill. Bentley: SAF-XO for 325-335. |

Changed my rear diff oil for the first time at 182k miles (i bought the car with 90k on it)
it was incredibly clean! my diff is making a terrible whining noise though, so I'm actually replacing it next week |
