Removing rear interior light fixture

Not sure what I was doing wrong but then I pryed right behind the spotlights like you pointed out in the DIY with no luck. The fixture just wouldn't pop loose...I was worried that I would break it at some point since I was using extra force due to it not simply popping off. The frosted light cover did pop off during this process. Any other pointers/suggestions.....?

Garage List
So a buddy and I installed using this DIY, great write up by the way, and for some reason the motion sensor thing in the light dome isnt working. We actually activated the alarm ourselves coding it. Does anyone else know if there is a code you have to enter for the sensor to work.

Is the "FUNK_INNENRAUMSCHUTZ" the same for the 09, the 10 shows it to be "QUIT_AKUST_SCHAERF"

matrix76, I don't think they are the same. At least not from Google Translate.

QUIT AKUST SCHAERF - QUIT ACOUSTICS SCHAERF
FUNK INNENRAUMSCHUTZ - WIRELESS INDOOR PROTECTION

My reply was to help monkawekrue to get his motion sensor to work.

Ok, I ordered my kit today and will be installing it soon, I'll do the coding accordingly. t/y

This seems to be the best deal for the kit,

Completed the OEM alarm installation. It was quite easy to install the hardware and the coding took only 15 minutes, added the chirp, hood switch & HB when activated. Well worth the upgrade to have a full functional alarm system.

Your right, it all made sense when I did the install,

Just one note related to the DIY, I had difficulty removing the rear dome light as discribed in the DIY. What I ended up doing was sitting in the back seat and then put your finger along the front edge if the dome light then gently pulling it toward me until the two front clips clear the headliner and it dropped right down. To reinstall it just put in the front edge first then push it up into place, the two metal tabs slide right in. This avoids any prying of the dome light. Worked well. OP'er, thank you for the DIY, it worked very well.

Let me contribute a bit: For the removal of the cabin light, you want to pull backwards on the entire unit (sliding it from front to back), then that should clear the front side of the unit enough for you to pull directly down towards you. I tried for 5 minutes with the spatula trick as well and struggled, but looking at the unit, this isn't the right way to do it.

Installation of it is actually in reverse, where you align the front of the unit first, then just push up on the backside to allow it to clip back in.

Hope this helps for anyone stuck scratching their heads on this step.

My car was built in June of 2009 and did not come with the pre wiring for an alarm. Does anyone know if there is a part number for the wiring harness or if i can have a shop wire it up?

All done. Seems awesome. I couldn't set it off because my family is sleeping but I get chirps arm/disarm. Pretty simple...struggled a little getting the cabin sensor to unplug from the cover and mounting the siren holder to the bracket.

Motion, hood, or panic does not seem to work. Only opening the door when armed works. I thought having the latest updates would include the alarm functionality.

You need to activate the retrofit via coding for complete and OEM functionality.
