Infineon spin video...

My friend filmed this short mpeg at Infineon last weekend...apparently there was some oil in the braking zone for turn #7. FWIW, this driver is very fast...he did a 2:00 flat at Thunderhill in this Evo. Yes, it is modified. He is probably a good 7-8 seconds faster at Thunderhill than I am ....bastard!

I was like no whey! he's gonna spin at the slow right hander with the wall right next to it?

Is he running a ltw battery? Or is it something else that causes him to crank so much before turning over?

Not sure of the battery situation...I do know he has a bigger intercooler...chip...down pipe...and 265 tires on all four corners. He needs to add a roll cage. This is his daily driver too....LOL.

Wow, that's definitely an "oh sh*t" moment! Am I the only one that heard a crashing sound mid-spin? Was that the driver behind him?

This is a rare thing guys...someone leaked oil down the straight..and when Sean went to put on his brakes..his tires were wet with that oil...he had no way not to spin in that situation. Dont get put off by doing track events. I personally have spun several cars over the course of 11 years on track. Its actually fun MOST of the time. I couple of them were sorta hairy...but I put myself in those situations.

looks like he actually lost it under braking. the car behind him appears to spin also - what happened to it?

That puff of white smoke prior to the corner he saw from a distance and drove through should have alerted him that the car in front of him just spewed some fluid, unless that was just dust from another car going off in the turn.

Yeah..that smoke should have told him of a possibility..but the corner worker would most likely miss it..until those guys spun..and THEN put out the debris flag.

First, If I have to crash then I'd rather do it at a track where I'm wearing a helmet, the people around me most likely know what they are doing, and there's a crash crew on stand by.

As for being leery, spending some time on the track with an instructor will make you a better driver both on the track and on the street.

There is no dust to drive into at T7 at Infineon..its all pavement there...so it was either a turbo or something leaking onto exhaust..or a car overheating..so that actually could have been coolant on the pavement.
