good idea.

this is a good idea, especially for me to experiment because i got some substance that stained that piece on the passenger side and i was looking for a way to get rid of it because it wont come off.

Just watch that whatever stained it doesn't react with the paint!! Make sure it's well sanded before you start painting!

I can't seem to remove the 2 outside finisher rods!! It seems like I can easily scratch the tab areas. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions? Thanks!!

Pull the finish rods down and out...they come out pretty easily with little force. Very happy with glossy black finishers.

Cool

Thanks for the post.. I followed your directions and was able to paint mine. I used some Krylon ( as my car is jet black) and wasn't satisfied with the depth of the paint, so I bought a $5 can of crystal clear from autozone and it turned out quite nice. I then waxed it to ensure I got no yellowing. I would say the only downside to this mod is that I only used 1000 grit sandpaper the entire time and it took me hours and hours of sanding to get rid of the oem texture. Thanks!
