Anyone got a Qashqai?

What its like in the real world?

We are looking a something bigger than the Clio, and Im seeing cheap cheap lease deals on the Qashqai. Went and had a look at one at a dealer and was a bit underwhelmed, but then its going to be a kid carrier and not supposed to set the world alight with its performance/handling/etc.

found a lease deal for 190/mth (inc VAT) over 2 years with 12k miles per annum - seems pretty reasonable to me!

any comments or insights? looking at the dci version.

Sheps and Roger have them for their other halves.

I spoke to them when i was thinking about getting one for the wife a while back. Reports were positive but we never got one in the end. Change of plan.

Yup, got a QQ+2 1.6dci Tekna (March 12 registration). Mental day so will write properly later - fire any questions this way in the meantime.

was looking a accent dci model, not the +2 version.

get the impression that the Dci is the engine to go for, and also to stay away from the base models. although even that doesnt really bother me as its only going to be a glarified shopping trolley for the other half.

We were looking at vehicles of that type a few months ago as one of the Company cars where I work. Ended up going for a Grand C-Max, came in a lot cheaper than the QQ and much nicer to sit in and drive. If you don't need 7 seats then the regular C Max is just fine, a bit cheaper and looks better.

did consider the C-max, but they are out of budget for us at the moment. if we were going to buy there would be other cars Id consider, but we onyl want to lease something hence the interest in the Qashqai - mainly due to prices.

...as I was saying (appointment cancelled so able to reply)...

The new 1.6dci (new 12 months ago) is very economical and cheap on tax. Our fully laiden +2 averaged 50mpg on a round trip to Wales, including tootling around whilst there for a week, and more like 40mpg around town (maybe a smidge under). Road tax is about £100pa so all in all very economical considering its size & practicality it offers.

The 1.6dci does pack a fair bit of punch and certainly gets a shift on and deals with motorways with ease. Start/Stop on our works fine. My only criticism of the engine is virtually no torque pulling out of a juntion in 2nd i.e. if you're not in 1st coming out of a junction (where you can see no coming traffic) then you're in for a lot of juddering and ultimately a change down. Suppose that's the compromise for the efficiencies on offer. We've got a manual 2WD car to again maximise efficiency as the auto sapped the mpg.

The 7 seats are surprisingly useful too having never needed them before having them. Meant only using one car in Wales when we met the in-laws there and it doesn't take too many people asking for a lift for the boot-seats to be popped-up. Not sure whether the +2 is on th radar. The extra two seats, though fold flat, do take up space in the boot so whilst more luggage space than the normal QQ its not at much as you'd think. It is possible to 'un-officially' remove these to free up the space & save weight.

Our Tekna is full of toys which is nice, and softened the blow following the departure of the X3, but I understand they have increased the standard spec of the lower ranks models. Think the ntec now has a lot of the Tekna stuff as standard like 360 camera.

At the time of purchase there really wasn't anything else out there to properly compete as I was really hankering after a 7 seater that didn't look like a bus.

I think it looks pretty decent too...

I got my missus one two years ago; because I was impatient and wanted it pre-Christmas I took what my lease guy could grab from stock - I wanted a 2.0 diesel 4wd auto 5 seat, but actually ended up taking a +2 manual (but the diesel lump). I've got the one with all the trimmings (TEKNA, I think) which is still current although the simple reversing cam on mine has been replaced with a 360 degree system.

As Rog has stated, there is a drop in interior quality compared to say an X3, but the gadgets do go some way in offsetting that 'loss'. The SatNav system is good (with pre-loaded and alerts to speed camera locations), leather, pano roof etc.

An equivalent spec X3 would be £40k+, so the fiscal difference has to have come from somewhere and its the sound you get when closing the door/boot/fuel flap, dash surface etc.

The 2.0 diesel is pretty thirsty, although my missus does NO miles in it - she's had it two years and despite making 10+ trips to see her inlaws (400 mile round trip) she's only just rolled over 10k in two years - so her pathetic daily mileage could have something to do with that.

Sits at a ton quite happily.

Its a vanilla car; it does nothing badly, but is unremarkable other than its monthly cost Vs the toys (which I think is good). Being jap I can't see it ever going wrong (which I wouldn't say for the French equivalents).

so seems like a decent purchase all in all, it doesnt have to set the world of fire, just do whats needed which will be kid, pram, shopping, 2 adults. maybe all of those at the same time occaisionally.

Roger, the grey metallic looks great, really is the best colour I think.

Agreed. They look surprisingly good in white (that was my first choice but settled for silver).

When I was looking they were offering the Skoda Yeti on 3+24 for £199 fully serviced. Unfortunately the wife said no but i would have happily taken one. Looked to see what they are doing on them at the moment?

I'm really starting to like the Nissan Juke. I think they look great - however, without any experience of them, I can't really say what they're like to drive/practicality etc.

Vaheed, check out the Nismo version, looks even better. I'm supposed to be taking one out for a spin but not got round to it (it's a bit all show no go but probably a bit of a hoot).

Here's a QQ+2 up an icy mountain from Sunday...

Nissan Juke a family car? Maybe if you are a family of dwarfs. The Nissan blurb describes it as an urban supermini. So think pumped up fiesta, polo etc. only the boot is bigger in both of those.

£150 for a Yeti is insanely good.

Yup, I thought the boot was pretty tiny in the Juke, so a 'family' would struggle I reckon. But then again depends how much crap you carry around with you - we easily fill the QQ+2 whereever we go .

One thing I forgot to mention was that the +2 has pretty wallowy suspension whereas the normal QQ I had as a courtesy car seem much tighter and more chuckable. I'm guessing it's the same suspension but the extra weight of the +2 brings the wallowy nature. It's fine but would piss me off if I drove it every day whereas my wife doesn't give a shite (she just misses the X3 LOL!!).

not sure about the Yeti, though they are cheapy cheapyson!
might have to go look at one in the flesh.

the Jukes are quite cute, but they are small, I think our current Clio is bigger actually.
hence the Qashqai being a preferred option as its that bit bigger without being a full blown 4x4
