Car looks great.

Where did you get the steering wheel from? It's my understanding that the LCI paddles need to be modded to suit preLCI Auto cars (not sure on the DCT) so just want to know if it was modded or not. Thanks.

My car is an M Sport, didn't change the steering wheel. All I did was remove the SSG paddles and install the LCI DCT paddles.

The paddles I purchased modified to suit pre-LCI spec cars. They have a resistor removed to make the circuit work like the ssg paddles. Another change was required is to rewire the socket of the lci paddles the same way as the m3 dct paddle wiring configuration. Once this was done, works perfect just like a 335i LCI dct

Happy now I have an n54, with dct and proper paddle configuration

All depends on the situation.. In a straight line shifter is better, although in the twisties I prefer the paddles..

Ah ok, that makes sense that you bought it pre modded. As you didn't mention anything about modding it yourself I was thinking whats going on here.

Did you get the paddles from Nexxonmotors? AFAIK, they are the only ones who sold pre-modded LCI paddles. Can you shed some light around the socket rewiring? I suspect that's probably why it isn't working for mine even though my paddles are modded i.e., resistors removed and shorted one connection (thanks luster!)

Any advice would be helpful to some of us who's trying to retrofit the LCI paddles (m3 paddles are plug-and-play which is much simpler). Why I said DCT made a difference earlier is because you already had a paddle setup, whilst the retrofit which some of us are doing is moving from a non-paddle wheel to a wheel with paddles. This requires a retrofit harness (which already exist for yours - albeit maybe some wiring differences).

Yes Nexon motors that's correct.

Wiring as follows;

THIS IS HOW IT CAME FROM NEXON

Left Paddle Connector
______
3-------|<--downshift
2-------|
1-------|<--ground
==<-tab

Right Paddle Connector

==<-tab
1-------|<--ground
2-------|
3-------|<--upshift
______

THIS IS HOW I WIRED IT (SAME AS M3 DCT)

Left Paddle Connector
______
3-------|<--downshift
2-------|<--ground
1-------|
==<-tab

Right Paddle Connector

==<-tab
1-------|
2-------|<--ground
3-------|<--upshift
______

Your setup is obviously different, as it's a full retro fit kit. I recommend you search on here and see if someone has purchased the retro kit from Nexon and may be able to assist you?

thanks mate. Already done the researching and someone in the states did it but their setup looked different. I think the connector wiring may be the root of my issue. Stu is trying to figure this out too coz my install didn't work.

Stu, it looks like the paddle connectors to the harness may also need to be modded as well to be like the M3. Maybe that might be the solution?

rayz,

i'll put some time in next week or the week after, and get this working 100%.

i'm almost certain i soldered your paddles exactly correctly, and just need to work out the actual wiring after the paddles.

we'll get there bro, with or without outside help!

Hey mate, think you can pick them up from tischer for 135 shipped. Otherwise, here's a used pair FS on the Canadian classifieds - maybe you can work something out with the seller.

With the LCI SMG paddles you need to mod them first.
