^^ Someone's clearly excited haha.
Hint #1: It's non audio related Hint #2: It's for the car Hint #3: It's from a vendor off this forum (US/Taiwan based) Surely that's enough hintage! |

Thanks dude!! Won't be picking it up this weekend either since the snow fall has thrown a spanner in the works! I also got told that my installer needs a couple more days to put the finishing touches so looks like another week without the car I'm glad he's taking his time, rather he do that than a rush job!
I'm enjoying the drive in the 1998 C Class Merc, don't mind if it curbs here or there since the wheel trim is 15" haha. Anyways, uber excited... this'll now give me time to read up on MS-8 calibration! S. |

Right, what with P5 UML's and MEGA's pics nicely coming through, I was feeling left out so here are a few pics of the install I've gone for... It's 85% completed.
What's done so far: - 1 x JL 12w7 AE3 - JBL MS-8 - Jehnert XE200 Underseat Mid Drivers - Morel Hybrid Ovation II (Mids and Tweeters) - Technic Harness - JL HD 750/1 - JL HD 600/4 - JL RLC (Bass Control) What's left to be done: - Tune and tweak the MS-8 as currently the Sub Bass is not hitting as low as it should be and I hear occassional crackling from speakers but only when I turn it up very loud. - Right Side of the boot (where you see two blank panel windows) - I plan of inserting part of an old and dysfunctional amplifier showing circuitry with some dim LEDs for a bit of contrast. - Finishing touches on the carpeting of the bootbuild OR.... - Re-Trim: Funds permitting, I may go for a re-trim on the whole Boot install just to jazz things up a little. I have a colour them which I'm running with on this car and it'll come into play soon - Smash MEGA and Sumil's sound system into a million pieces Really sorry for the crappy pics but I'll better ones once I have the finished article. |

looks like a clean setup! i love how with even a sound install, we can retain such boot space!!!
I would love to do this, but i occasionally have to shlep suitcases about and would need the space. How easily removable are these installs? |

C'mon now, you know better than that lol. Dips @ The Custom Cars did my boot build along with everything else. Im probably going to get it retrimmed in a few weeks and Dips will again be behind that! I also have to do errands here and there but no airport runs. We have another couple of cars in the family to do that lol. Put your foot down boy make it known!! Hahaha. |

This is a really good install AWBIMMER, just wondering did you leave the subwoofer box sealed or have you ported it through the ski hatch??

It's sealed. Unless heavily modded, coupe's can't have sound travel through the ski hatch since none exist. Both rear seats fold down so the only option I had (without getting silly) was to have it sealed. Believe me, it'll sound crazy once I've configured the MS-8. The 12w7 has MAD potential so I just need to tap into it. I can hear my own car a road away with windows up... and that's not even at full volume. LOL. |

On a serious note, give MS-8 plenty of hours to set up. There is no point of spending fortune and not having optimal results out of it. Just to share an example that even 25hz difference make a huge difference. Had Rudz car to setup another amplifier and by changing the xovers by 25Hz, the sound system was not as per Rudz rquirements. And it needed another tweaking. First, listen to a quality sound system (home system or headphones) and then try to replicate that in your car. Give it a good time and all the best.

I just have NO idea how to begin with the MS8 set up... I am going to have to take to someone to set up since I just don't feel comfortable setting up without making a bit of a mess :-( If I had someone just to sit with me for a couple of hours and show me the ropes I'll go away and get the best I can out of it and of course happy to pay for someone's time but seems not a lot of people can. How you finding your system? |
