I finally got my cable. When I go to ports > USB serial port (com1)
Then advanced, its a whole new screeen an there is no \"use FIFO uffers\" or receive an transmit buffers. So what do I do?

When I try to open up inpa it says
Ediabas-error

Error#135
Host communication error
API initialization error
No API calls possible!

But what operating system are you running.
There seems to be a lot of posts on the big thread that you have to use
a 32 bit operating system and or xp with a 32 bit and or VMware plus xp at 32 bits.

I am working my way the the big thread and making notes there was something
about the 32 bit requirement at entry 1192 in the big thread.
also 1206 and 1305.


Did you find the bit about k can d can cables kcan before 3/07 build dates and something
else afterwards.

Please read all documentation and DIY on this but let me help a little.

1. Install BMW standard tools
2. Set following in COM properties
a. 1024/1024 send recieve
b. Latency: 1
c. Com Port: 1

You should use those settings and run in XP mode...

Did you download/install the FTDI cable drivers?

At least that is what I have read.
Looks like you are better off finding an old laptop running
xp 32 rather than going through contortions with Win 7.

Supposedly my laptop has a counterfeit windows 7 on it therefore it won't let me download xp mode. Haha

It will work on Windows 7 x86 mode. It will not work on an x64 installation.
You can also download Vmware and install Windows XP so you can transfer it to any laptop.

I can't get this. We have 2 laptops, other one has win 7 home premium so i can't download xp mode, this one has ultimate that says its not real so it won't let me download.

I download VMware player and an iso but it asks for a product key, which I don't have.

What do I do? Any help would be appreciated. Links would help too...I really want to start coding today. Thanks

Thanks I got it running, but when I open inpa all it is is a white screen, no black dots..

Hi. I had the same at the beginning.
All I did was right click, run as Administrator, and it worked for me.
Try that. Hope it helps.

Also, is it supposed to open up (but turn white)even if the cable isn't plugged into the car? Because I'm sitting in my house fiddling with it and it's able to open but still the white, obviously probably because not connected to car
