Painting Caliper and Hubs
Hi guys, have any of you's painted the calipers and hubs without removing anything but the wheels.
Mine are starting to look rusty and is driving me up the walls. Thought of DIY but I am not too keen on removing parts except the wheel of course. Any ideas, pointers, guidance welcome! |

i have.
1. take off the wheel. 2. clean the calipers and rotors with brake cleaner and degreaser 3. mask the surrounding such as fenders and doors with news paper and some masking tape so it doesnt fly onto your panels. 4. mask any parts that you dont want to paint 5. spray on 2-3 coats with 15mins between each coat. 6. bolt wheels back on and leave over night to dry. although you can drive it 2-3 hours after. paint will fully cure in a few days. |

its pretty easy, take off wheels, clean hubs and calipers with a solvent, consider putting some old newspaper behind the brake so you don't paint your shocks as well and you'll be fine.

on a related note, Can you use a paint that is applicable using a paint brush versus a spray on application. To avoid the whole taping and overspray situtation?

Pretty damn easy to do.
1. Take off wheels 2. Newspaper all around it 3. Buy 1 can of hi temp spray paint from supercheap/autobarn 4. Spray 2-3 layers and leave to dry for 2-3 hours 5. Drive Have been considering spraying mine but haven't decided on colour.... |
