Yes I know what an open source tune is. Do I need it... no? Do I think it could be a good option? Yes... tons of people will be able to self tune and release maps... something Cobb cannot do and that to me makes me want to make the move. JB4 was a quick rush and I wouldn't even consider it again. If this Tablet does basically what Cobb does and is cheaper and I can make some money off my Cobb being as I got it at a great price, why not?
It sounded like you had your head wrapped around your logic until you said the tune isn't the biggest concern.

The tune is and will always be the most important aspect of your car...

Don't get me wrong this tune theoretically will be good. (THEORETICALLY).

Good luck with whatever route you choose.

A quality tune is the single most important thing. You know that, right? Listen to Jeff.

I agree as well but, what I meant by that was that the tune isn't the most important thing to me, I am willing to try this cheap solution out, if it doesn't work I can always go back to a Cobb at anytime! When I said not important I meant which brand I'm using... I'm willing to do some testing/logging and seeing how it goes.

I agree that the tune is the most important thing. Now let's go back to keeping this on topic.

Either way I'm going with the Tablet, I just sold my Cobb for $675. If the tablet has issues and isn't working well I will switch back to a Cobb.

I believe that's why he sold his Cobb. Cobb maps are nothing special. They are just ok.

Now, this is eye-opening. I would love to be able to use this to load/unload ECU flashes without having to mail it somewhere to have it done. This seems like a nice all-in-one diagnostic tool.

Not sure how the dme process relay signals. But would it be possible to active certain relays for diagnostics like LPFP, fans (with variable speeds) , water pump, etc with the ignition on but not running. This has been useful in other platforms esp as cars are aging. I'm speaking for future updates not as is right now

This product does not come with a tuning assistance other than providing solid OTS maps. For custom tuning, you will either need to do it yourself or preferably go to a tuner. The Rombinhood team will be posting tutorials and how-tos over the course of the next few weeks on this forum which should be a good reference guide for people who want to use the more advanced features. But for those who just want to tune their car, the whole job isn't much more than plugging it in to the DME, then plugging it into a laptop, then back into the DME again. No tuning knowledge necessary. Even all the software/firmware updates are done automatically upon detection of wifi. Very novice friendly.

Those who aren't novices will have even more fun with it. You are basically getting a portable single-car version of an non-encrypted, user mappable, flashing device that would costs several thousand dollars. Don't let the Cobb users in this thread convince you otherwise as they are in a state of temporary denial judging Give them time though.. they will come around.

Shiv

Edit. looks like the trolling posts have been delete. Thanks mods
Thanks. So who would I contact if I had issues with the OTS tune? Vinshu or Ronbinhoods group?

The OpenFlash Tablet already has the ability to activate fans and water pump. I'm sure Rombinhood can add more if there is a demand for it.

How is everyone profiting from selling their Cobbs? Lol...are they selling them for more than what they paid new? If the COBB appreciates then they are doing something right! No?

For our tunes, we will start an official thread that can help people dial in there tunes. At this price, we cannot offer unlimited tuning support simply because not all cars are the same due to hardware changes, neglect, conditions, etc,. We do want to encourage going to actual tuners to get tuned. E-tunes will never work as well as a proper dyno tune. But our OTS maps, like other OTS maps will be stable and functional. They will leave room on the table for improvements through custom tuning. Either by yourself (if knowledgeable or willing to learn) or by an experienced tuner. But there are enough people on this forum who have been custom tuning their flashes to provide insight when needed. Ultimately, this a tool. It will work at least as well, out of the box, as any other similar tool. But unlimited tuning support isn't feasible.

Other tuners who may offer maps (and support) may have a similar or different policy.

How long does it take to swap maps once you've flashed for the first time?

That's pretty slow if you have to swap pump to E85 blends.

You bough a device at 700 but a similar device is introduced at lower price and the value of the both devices will be 400. Some people do not know about the release and are still willing to pay 600. You can sell at 200 of profit compared to the real value assuming the complete information. A typical case of asymmetric information. The value is a continuous variable. Sorry for the OT
