Steering wheel trim
So finally got around to ordering a re trimmed steering wheel with Jack at royal steering wheels, really nice fella, will be picking up the wheel in a week or so, but now the problem is my shabby wheel trim, be silly not to get that sorted when putting on a new wheel. So the question is, wheres the best place to get one from, looking for just a plain piece of trim, without the 'M' badge, as my car is a SE, and preferably without the silver trims down the side, just plain black. Also, are all pieces of trim the same? or are they a different fit for the Msport wheel and the SE wheel? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

M sport and SE trim are different shape so will have to be the SE that you go for, I've always wondered if it's possible to refurb it as surely every piece of this trim ever made is shabby due to the finish it has.

Do it yourself! I bought this for mine:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1306604579...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT The plastic trim piece is easy to take off the steering wheel, then you can form the wrap onto it quite easily. Use of a hairdryer helps you stretch it where needed. I'm no expert but I was really pleased with the result. Cheap fix.

I'm definitely leaning that way, i have a can of Plasti dip, so might give it a once over with that. Cant justify paying £50+ for a piece of trim when every one seems to be doing a decent job by themselves.

I've currently got a duffed up aircon/climate surround and this bit of plastic costs eighty quid from the dealer to replace. Seems BMW picks there prices out of the air when it comes to interior plastic trims.

Would be keen to know which worked best, the Plasti dip or the wrap?
I had previously seen some posts suggesting Rust-Oleum flat black but it doesn't appear to be available in the UK, so looking for the next best option! |

The wrap isn't too difficult, I went with CF. The tips on the top were the hardest part, but once it get installed you will never notice the slight imperfections. Video on the Wrap Removal threads i referenced http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=243169 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=575763 |

The only Matt Black paint I can see on the Wickes website is the heat shield stuff: http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Heat-...400ml/p/602112 Is that it? |

Jack is great, another recommendation for him had three wheels from him.
Sand and spray it! Easy to remove and it's f--ked now so what's the worse that happens? You still need to replace it? Nice easy DIY to try ..
