So Why Does Sirius Recoding Cost So Much???

I already have all the hardware as I have 2010 335d with I drive and NAV.

It is 500.00 from dealer and some vendors on here charge 340.00 but you have to do it yourself via Internet

Is this recoding alot more difficult or time consuming than something like retrofitting comfort access or adaptive headlights???

It's not more difficult, it's just the later integral Satt units require an FSC code from BMW. FSC codes are a crytographic hash of some kind (like your windows activation code) and they are VIN specific. Apparently some diligent hacker types have figured out how to generate FSC codes, but they are understandably stingy with that information.

The required FSC Code is around $250. The FSC Code then has to be imported and activated in the head unit (CIC). The coding after that is 5 minutes, tops.

The only FSC Code that can be generated is a MAP Update FSC Code. All other FSC Codes must be purchased though BMW ASAP Portal.

ok, so I took car in to dealer to get Sirius added for 500.00 and they had car all day and still couldnt figure out how to do it.

Anything I should tell the dealers to give them a helping hand other than get the FSC activation code from BMW for 250.00 and then activate the CIC????

Should it be this difficult for the dealer???

No. They just need to use ISTA/P to Import and Activate the FSC Code, then change your VO from S693A PREPARATION_SATELLITE_TUNER to
to S655A SATELLITE_TUNER, and then program HU_CIC.
