Thumbs up FOLLOW UP PICS!: Vented Hood, CSL Boot, M3 Front, ALPINE AE

Alright guys... got the car back from the shop and posting pics as promised.

All of these parts (with the exception of the AE's of course) are from **********s. Big shout out to Alan for being great to work with, and taking the time to keep me updated on the various shipments! Thanks Alan!

Parts installed:

-M3 Rep Front Bumper
-CSL Bootlid 2X2
-Vented Hood

I went with the paint scheme I mentioned in the previous post and they did a pretty good job. No real issues with fitment, there are some small irregularities on the hood/trunk lines but nothing that you wouldnt expect with aftermarket parts. Only issues I have currently are the fogs, which Alan was able to advise me on getting the Mtech harness from he dealership so I can hook up the 9006 bulbs. Also the CSL bootlid locking mechanism doesnt fit so you can either leave it out or make a custom hole for it in the OEM position.

I hope to take pics with a REAL camera if its sunny this weekend, these are just quick snaps with my Droid

Overall, I'm more than pleased with how the car looks.. and as an added bonus I put in my AlpineSS angel eyes today and took a pic (useless since they are so damn bright) that I will include.

And the BRIGHT AS $h*t Alpines...

For E92's you don't need coding for that. Just turn on your daytime running lights through the stalk or through idrive.

Your absolutely right... for some reason I never played around with that. I got it working, but I guess you lose the fade in/fade out of the AE's when you unlock/lock the car when enabled correct?

Unless I messed with another setting by mistake...

Looks good though, car starts up with just the AE's shining nice and bright

Nice ride, you can get the harness from the dealership or get the H8 to 9006 harness from www.innovativewiring.com. I have the harness from innovativewiring, and it does not throw any codes on my fogs. The fog does look funny as its a yellow and weak compare to the xenons. My alpine AEs are in the mail, I think once I install that, the fogs will even look more awkwardly different. I am debating to buy a HID fog kit to match the colors, but I rarely use my fogs.

Im actually thinking of just doing a delete mod on the fogs, I rarely turn them on as well and I think it might look better to not have them in there. Has anyone modified some m3 front grilles to replace the m3 rep grille where the fogs are located? I think I had heard of someone doing this.

My shop had to cut a tap off to fit the H8. They also gave me an H11 to 9006. I heard you can try either the m3 ducts, or the 335is ducts, both might actually be the same. I was doing some research about deleting the fogs when I realized I wanted to keep mine to keep it a bit different from a m3. The harness is useless if you are going to get an HID fog kit since most kit comes with an h8 adapter. I might just slap some white PIAA on the fog and call it a day. And delete the fogs once something happens to the lower grills.

Considering how aggressive your car looks, deleting the fog will definitely make it look nicer. Im jealous your getting away with no front license plate, Maryland state troopers aren't soo nice.

Ah I see.. yeah Im going to have a look around and try to make a decision. Will prob try to go with the delete, Im sure I can fabricate something. Although HID fogs would be nice.

Oh and the license plate thing... got harassed quite a bit, for that and tint. VA State troopers love to pull you over for it. I have a solution though...

Hideaway Plate

I got pulled over once already, then flipped the plate up while I was pulling over, cop walked around the car saw the plate and the look on his face was priceless. He really thought he was losing his mind. Decided to tell me my tint was a little too dark and thanked me for my military service and I was on my way.

The car is coming along great and all the parts combined does give the car a more aggressive look. It was my pleasure helping you out with this project and I'm sure we'll be working together again real soon. Let me know if you're looking to get a new set of wheels and I'll be more than happy to get you hooked up!
