Okay. I emailed VF Engineering today and copied this thread as well.
They're working on it Competition is a good thing! Here is their response: Thank you for contacting us. We have a number of products going through our development dept and the N5X engine is included. We may have some more information early next year. -Technical VF-Engineering

+1. This car will be with me until it dies. i'm definitely down if ESS comes through. I'm beginning to have a flicker of hope since most of my friends are running 335's

Apparently, ESS is still contemplating and hasn't moved forward with anything at this time
Here's his response from last night: We have not had any free R&D capacity at the moment to look further into this project. AA and VF: MAJOR opportunity for you right here if you haven't already started something.

I'm planning for a motor swap instead as soon as I can find a good one for a good price. I don't know what route to take yet. An S62 v8 with SMG has me intrigued. Too bad it will be much more of a pain than my S52 e30 was... |

I just got a response from one of the two other supercharger companies I listed above, who at their request shall remain anonomous, just purchased a 328 for testing.
Yes, again waiting. I seriously looked into purchasing an M3 and parting out my car or using the parts that I could from my car and it'll still cost me over $30K to do similar upgrades to the M3 that I have done to my car! Not going to happen. A 335 would cost me about $15K, so it's not worth it either. I'll just stick with my 330 and see what comes.

I hear SO MANY of you saying "I'm doing this motorswap soon etc..." but I'm yet to see a single 325/328 swapped. Is there even one that was done yet? Not picking on anyone in particular, but its funny how many of you ARE going to swap, yet nothing ever happens with it. IMO even with a free motor to swap it'll still cost more than trading in the car and getting the 335 :/

Other than you, I have seen at least two other people, in the NA section, claim to be working on/looking into a motor swap. He isnt off base with his comments.

Far from off base. No one other than Hartge has yet to come through with their motor swap. His statement holds water. |

Or anything like that, m3's just dont have any tq lol, Tues afternoon i ran with a fully tuned 335 on the bridge, SSTT tune, downpipes, exhaust, he was pushing +/- 400 hp and prob the same amount of tq. He flew past me like i seriously wasn't moving. That right there made me realize no matter what we do to these n52s that its not going to be in the same ball park as a 335 with 2k into it. Do i want to spend 6,7,8k on tunes and SC's and headers to still be prob 100hp shy of the guy on the bridge? No way...its just not practical for me

will a 328i ever beat a N54 boosting 17psi with meth and a shot? No way. Very few cars can, and im talking $100K+ cars - still cant keep up. But a modestly modded 335, to a S/C 328i, with a dash of weight savings and parts - would be a very realistic challenge. |
