GB over, thanks everyone who has taken the time to clean their Valves.
=)

Ivo got the valves cleaned, YAY!

************************************************** ************************************************** **********
Ivo is starting with my valves next week. maybe tuesday. Ill be sure to post a few before and after photos.

It is not too late to join if interested.

************************************************** ************************************************** ************
I called Ivo@Columbus Auto as FarBMW and ChickenFriedRice recommended (THANKS guys!!), nice easy guy to talk to. He explained the process to me. Which include disassemble; scrubbing the valves with tooth brush; spraying solutions on the valve; grit blast(if there are build up left over); reassemble.
hopefully i didn't forget too many steps he told me. The point is, he is going to do a complete job on the valve and intake port cleaning.

Prices: (after bringing up E90post and explaining that we may have more than just me doing this)

1-4 members - $330 CAD

5-10 members - $300 CAD

This price is only effective for 4 weeks after I send him the list of ppl that has signed up. If you dont have time within the next 4 -5 weeks, sorry this price will not be honoured. and normal rates will apply.

Please PM me if you are SURE you will to do this, and will have time with in the month of JUNE 2012 to bring your car to IVO during the weekday between working hours.

Let the list start.

1. ranuova - June 6
2. b3_ups - Second week of June
3. nemo07 - Second week of June
4. MrSkinny - Second week of June
5. Zebra99 - June 22
6. gboop

(Hey guys,

As my car approached its 100k km. I wanna get its Valves and the intake port cleaned because of the carbon build up. I believe the throttle response and fuel consumption of the car can benefit quite a lot from this.

So, Walnut Shell Blasting is what most members did for their Valve & Intake Port Cleaning.

My questions are:

Has anyone done this in the GTA area?
if so
Where did u get it done?
How much did it cost?
Is anyone else looking to get this done anytime soon?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

This is interesting. I've done it on my own car (scrub & blast) and if there is enoguh interest, I may provide this service to people.

But to answer your question OP, I beleive most deals in the GTA have the tool to grit blast. I know endras and toronto does. Call them up and see what they are offering.

I know Ivo@Columbus Auto cleaned Dznneo's 335i but I don't know what method he used to do it.

He disassembles and does it by hand. Quoted me ~$300 and about a day's turnaround time.

thanks guys seems like Ivo@Columbus Auto has got good reviews for this job. Tzu has done it also, so there is no lack in talent on this forum. am glad. =)

I am going to wait a couple of days and see if there is enough interest to get a group buy started. Also gunna make sure that we can get a good job done by a good fella at a good price.

good things to come!

It's not difficult at all, be it manual scrub or grit blasting. It's just time consuming. AFAIK, Ivo scrubs and if he's really charging $300, thats a steal!

I would also be interested in this.

Would really be interested in seeing how to turn the crank on the auto, it's easier to open/close the valves on the manual :P

I own a manual myself, but you can always put the car in neutral and turn the crank bolt. I opted for blipping the starter, not sure if this will throw some sort of BMW code on the autos though.

Will this service affect coverage for cars still under BMW Warranty? (IE any codes (shadow?) being thrown with the auto trannys as mentioned above etc?) BMW Toronto supposedly does not offer this service from what I've been told.

Bump for an update!!

I'm already scheduled in and can't wait!! I'm at 76k and idle funny + crappy mileage so I know this will help.

I'm hoping there is a noticeable different in the upper rpm range because that's where I suffer the most.

Just spoke to Ivo @ Columbus Auto about my appt. and it looks like he wasn't aware I was coming in on June 22, 2012....someone dropped the ball here cough**OP** cough

Lol

Anyways all been rectified. Sounds like a great guy and pretty honest. I put him to the test by asking how much more it would cost to install my CP and Intake and he replied "nothing, it all comes off anyways" - Good answer right here!!

Just thought I'd share my first experience with him since a few guys are already confirmed. He's also agreed to install my rear brake kit and oil lines for not much more which I thought was awesome! Can't wait - only two more weeks!!

Thanks again OP for setting this up!!
