damn 144k!!! i love nice cars that have high mileage. Everyone is shocked to see our e53 04 x5 had 200k and running great. I think a car is pretty much done at 160-170k if it starts to give some tranny issues. Always better to have a spare daily though :-)

Just hit 45k on my 325xi the other day. Nothing major done on it while I've been the owner except some timing or w/e fixed when the car wouldn't start. It just kept cranking and didn't start for some reason.

93k on my 335. I've slowed down a lit, though since I bought another car to drive around last October!

if you never change the tranny fluid 100% the car is done at that 170 000 miles but if you change fluids in the car like the old school maintenance program why would a car be done ?
Figure this.... cars are a lot more reliable these days than they used to be. So what do manufacturers do, make it seem like they need a lot less maintenance so they eventually break, to even out the diference. Sorry, there is no such thing as life time warranty tranny oil.... or 25 0000 miles oil changes. yes, the car will have no major problem during the waranty but if you keep up this maintenance schedule, the car will start having issues soon after.... Take the new technology and apply the old school maintenance and you'll see a car last 20 year easily....

Over 98k and still running strong

Purchased in July 2005. Since then:

3rd set of run-flats (Conti)
Replace valve cover gasket and bolts @ 60,676 miles
New Battery @ 68,632 miles
New fuel pump & filter @ 69,508 miles
Headlamp bulb replaced
Rear fog-light switch install (of course )

+ the usual stuff the computer calls for when it's time

Driven from CA to NJ and back 2 times; numerous trips from CA to AZ; a couple of trips from CA to Vegas...you get the idea.

I just love this car!!

50240 miles on my 2006 330i. Replaced front windsheild due to a rock chip(Allstate) and 4 new Michelin Run Flats ($1300). Other than that, no problems

I was lucky in that I never got stranded...although I think I came close! The car would crank and crank and crank. The tell-tale sign! Took it to an indy who first thought it was the battery. Had that replaced but the same problem came back. Didn't complain about the battery because I figured it was due to be replaced anyway. Long story short, the indy said the pump had to be replaced and that the filter should be done at the same time. They were nearly the same in price:

Pump = $293.43
Filter = $264.54
Labor = 319.60
Tax = $48.60
-----------------
Total = $908.17

This was done at 69,508 on the odometer.

73k on my 330i. I bought it back in Aug with 70k on it. I had to replace a driver rear wheel bearing and a broken head bolt. Runs great and no other issues.

2006 325i. Bought it used since April of 09. at around 66k now. Replaced breaks, battery, iDrive controller twice, replaced gasket for oil leak at around 35k. And three sets of cam/exhaust sensor (in my fourth set now... ) dealer said it has something to do in the engine.. but taking the head off along in labor cost 1500+... and that might not even be the problem.. so im just gonna leave it alone...
