I like the idea of the PPK, even though it only delivers an extra 20bhp, it delivers it safely.

I know people rave about JB4's and such but I just don't like the idea of piggyback tunes which aren't tailored to your actual car.

I'm planning on adding the PPK and Performance Exhaust as well; how much did it all cost you and which dealership near Montreal did you go to?

I just called a dealership in the USA. For those of you who were wondering if US dealerships can do the installation on Canadian cars, well they cannot. The service advisor I spoke to said that due to differences with DME software in Canada, the US PPK V1 or V2 programming task would abort or generate errors.

Also, BMW North America prevents them from selling US sourced PPK kits to Canadians.

The SA recommned I shop locally, which I did. Best quote I got is 6 hours of labor for the PPKV2 (my car has been flashed with the latest DME one week ago). The parts for my VIN came out out $2144CAD. Total with taxes is $3362.

I asked if the cooling parts could be installed separately (my only interest as Im getting a Cobb AP3 soon), and this is not possible.

This PPK is much cheaper and costs a fraction of the BMW version:
http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20980

You can flash it yourself and always go back to stock as well!

Thanks for the tip.

I wish I could order the BMW cooling components, and skip the software, then I would be all over the BMW PPK stage 2, minus the stage 1, and get Cobb or BMS.

My 135i is still under warranty ...

Running a Cobb AP on my 335i.
Been in for plenty of warranty work. I just remove the software before service.
No issues.

As mentioned, that is why Im planning to get newly released Cobb AP3 flash, and not piggyback JB4

Your SA is full of shit, pardon my French

Bought PPK V1 from Tischer BMW from getbmwparts.com for $666 and shipped it to my relative in the US. Installed it at my local BMW dealer with 2 hours of labor at $148/hr I have the official receipt.

ZERO ISSUES

It is like saying that a Microsoft Office 2010 software key I bought from the US will not work on my Canadian laptop.

It is basically an encrypted key made for your own vehicle (if you provide them your VIN). Tech plugs in your car, types in the key, then voila you're done.

I know that in the stage #1, all you are getting is software key, for any local dealership to upload to your car.
What you did works out perfectly if you have friends in the US, or a US postal address, and then get the stage #1 installed in Canada.

Have you thought of the implication for stage #2, with all the hardware included in this kit? Would you then try to smuggle the stage #2 parts back to Cansda, or pay brokerage fees to get it to Canada? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of trying to save money?

If you read my post above carefully, I stated that we cannot take a Canadian car to US BMW DIS system for flash programming also required with stage #2. Cooling add-ons is what I was after, not a lousy 17HP offered by stage #1.

Talking

I did read your post a few times.

I am not a BMW tech, the logic does not make sense that a US-ordered Performance Power Kit will "discriminate" a North American vehicle from Canada on accepting the update and cooling parts.

I do not understand why you cannot take your vehicle in the US and install the V2. Try sourcing out another US BMW dealer.

You can piece the cooling parts separately (if you are diligent enough) and if you do not want the V1 software upgrade that comes with the V2.

Also, if you do more research about the V1, there is more to the kit than just a slight 17 wheel-horsepower increase.

* Flashing it yourself let's you keep all your warranty!
* No need for the extra cooling cash grab, you can install those things when your good and ready (I use my right foot modulation to help with cooling if anything were to get warm )

Before you waste your money on Cobb... have you thought about Open Flash Table (OFT)?

Thanks for the info. Where can I get schooled on OFT? What is required to get this running? I have no problems taking my laptop to my car. I do this on my Audi all the time (VCDS).

Thanks.

No need to wish... neither have failed in 70k miles and I have a free warranty on both I wish you the best in extracting more power (I'm just poking fun at you dude... don't take what I say seriously... it's all just smack talk for laughs).

N55 and N54 are both great fun!

Maybe someone can help me answer this question regarding BMW performance parts, and I apologize in advance if it is a redundant question..

In regards to the exhaust, how does the BMW performance exhaust compare to some of the more notable aftermarket ones? From my understanding and research, neither (BMW or whatever else) really don't add much more "power" just a change in sound...

Lastly, anyone have any experience with the BMW sport springs?

Any input would be appreciated.
