This is a great write up. I never thought to use plastic-dip. Looks like it came out really good.

Good idea. Definitely a cash saver! Those clips are a pain...a right angle tool helps for the top 2, but a flat head screw driver is what I used for the bottom 3.

I just did 7 coats on my kidney grill, yesterday...it looks great...its says wait 4hrs per coat for it to dry completely...28 whole hours but hey can't beat the price ...I love the way it looks I'm like Plasti spray crazy right now...so I sprayed this dinky chrome license plate frame and it looks sweeeeeet. I want to do my tail lights and from orange corner lights too. I will post pix soon.

final product pix...btw I wanted to also do this because of my scoops. some pix are with and without flash. Also the 3 dots on the bumper are from the front license plate that used to be there...I'm keeping it off.

just finished my 8th coat and letting it dry overnight I'll post pics of the finished product tomorrow.

No bubbles, drips, or anything! They look great

here is my finished product!

They looked a bit weird with the bottom grills being gray, so i decided to plastidip those too. Pretty happy with the results!

Only problem I ran into was with the bottom grills. As I removed the tape, it would slightly peel away the plastidip. But if you're patient and use a razor blade, the tape should come off cleanly.

if you clear coat over the plasti dip, would you still be able to peel it off?

I have a question about preparing the surface before painting - how best to get rid of the chrome??

I used sandpaper but the surface is still so smooth..... as a result of the month varnish begins to flake a little....

Any ideas how to prepare a surface better?

Just did mine. Looks really nice. The hardest part was removing the grille, other than that, the whole process (including drying) took about an hour. Here are the results!
