Washing car in the winter?

I live in nyc and the winters are very cold and impossible to wash a car outside. What does everyone do?

Touchless car wash, preferably a laser wash. A heated garage. Or brave the cold. There is a waterless wash product sold on autogeek.net but I can't remember the name.

I've got 3 letters for you...

O N R

optimum no rinse car wash. No hose required, just a bucket of warm water, a few ounces of ONR and a microfiber mitt or sponge. As long as it's used properly, it will not damage the paint and you'll be keeping your car clean all winter long.

Here you go:

Brave the cold, it's well worth it

Everyone else's car looks awful and yours looks pristine, I'd do it!

Hand car wash, dude! I'm in Jersey (not too far from the City) I know of three. 1) "Sport Car Wash" in Jersey City - decent job. 2) Don't know the name in Palisades Park (just off Rte 46), and Andy's Car Wash in Cresskill, NJ not far from DiFeo BMW, $15 inside and out, AA +$2

When you're out of the city on this side of the Hudson, pop in to one of these places. If you want I'll look up the PP. Maybe there's a hand wash place in Manhattan, but I haven't seen one in 20 yrs of living in and around Manhattan. Way uptown, perhaps?

OOps, I assumed you're in Manhattan. I suppose if you were from BxBkQnsSI, you would have them there!

I think they're great. They are my go-to place. Now about the address: 147 Piermont Road, Tenafly. I thought it was Cresskill but according to google it's Tenafly. Google Andy's Hand Car Wash Tenafly.

They are open year round, and do a pretty good job inside and out.

Fill my soap bucket in the tub with hot water, mix in my soap.
I bought some of those thick yellow dish washing gloves for $3.
I can take a knife in the side but cold numb hands...
A few beers don't hurt either.

since there is a step with a clay bar would this remove all of the wax I have layered on for the winter?

There is no claying process when using ONR. It's simply a car wash product with some shine enhancement properties. ONR will not strip wax. Just follow the directions exactly, and you shouldn't have a problem.

Attach the water hose to the hot water heater, however, windshield will probably crack when cold, so turn on the defroster prior to.
