Calling all 6ATs with upgraded turbos

Hey guys, I've been tossing the idea around in my head of getting upgraded turbos. The reason I have been hesitant is because of the what the 6AT can hold. I hear 450 whp and close to 500 wtq . I guess what I'm asking is will my 6AT be able to handle it pretty much problem free? Can you 6AT guys chime in?

Thanks

Just do it you'll be fine

But really, 500wtq+how quickly it comes on with stock frame turbos sounds close to the long-term limit. Don't launch it too many times or your transfer case could be in trouble.

@AK335i smoked his at some silly whp figure, well over 500wtq I think. He'll chime in, anyways the ZF box isn't half bad.

Yea and you can (to a certain extent) tune the torque to come on a little easy post shift. Or get an IJE0S and flatline timing to protect the transmission lol.

I'd get PTF to tune it for me so I'm not too worried about the tuning part, but thanks for the advice

I don't have a single turbo swap or anything, but I've been tuning cars for years. it will all be dependent on how good the tune is and how you drive. if you are putting 500wtq to the ground and doing donuts and trying to be drift king hot stuff you'll be buying transmissions like crazy. think about swapping out all the driveline fluids with better ones maybe try some redline for the tranny and diff. also think about supporting mods like transmission and motor mounts (can have the custom made cheaply) stiffer suspension to take away any jarring and get some wide wheels to lay down the power. all of that and conscious driving should set you up nicely.

Good trans mounts, Redline D4, Diff Lockdown kit....prepare and don't drive like a total shmohawk. 90% shmohawk is fine, just don't go full retard and the trans will be fine.

I have RB's and AT. The shift from 4th to 5th acted funny. It was really rough and felt like the car was hit from behind, and the higher gears just didn't want to hold power under load. Anyways, I got level 10's valvebody and tq converter, and now it runs perfectly. I didn't have to get their fully rebuilt transmission to fix my issue thank goodness. I haven't been on a dyno, so I'm not 100% what I'm making to the wheels.

It all depends how you drive the car & how your tune is dialed in. If you constantly launch the car and have OEM/RB/VTT S2 turbos, the low end TQ can hit like a bomb and wear the TQ converter out over time.

If you don't launch the car, dial out some of the low end TQ, you'll be able to prolong the life of the 6AT.

Not super long yet. Only a few hundred miles so far. I've only been to the drag strip a few times, and I don't launch my car on the streets.

I haven't been to the drag strip since the lvl10 parts have been intalled, though.
