Mercedes E350 Avantgarde
Had an E350 CDi Avantgarde dropped off yetserday as a courtesy car while mine's having the bumper replaced after someone rear ended me during the bad weather in Jan.
WTF is that parking brake foot pedal/release lever all about!!! I've got fork lift trucks in my warehouse with those on FFS. Never driven a Merc before so was a bit suprised when I got in it. Other than that it goes very well! |

One of the sales guys at a place I used to work at about 12 years ago (wasn't interested in cars one bit) took delivery to a new C class. A few days later he mentioned his car kept making a strange grinding noise. I went round the block with him to see if I could work it out - he'd not taken the hand-brake off and driven around for days with it still on

I used to drive around in the bosses E320 CDI (when I was 24!) and the footbrake really was wierd. No idea how you'd use one with a manual 'box?
Was a little bit disappointed that the 350CDI engine wasn't a bigger step up in power and torque from the 320CDI engine. Otherwise it's a cracking looking car. |

I had a manual Vito for a brief period with the foot operated hand brake, did my head in.

Indeed. As you can see from the pic the road was rather icy, doesn't help the other driver though as I was stationary giving way at a junction when he hit me & if you rear end someone it's always your fault!
Won't be cheap either as I insisted work done by a BMW dealer plus the cost of the Merc while it's away (my insurance arranged the car). If your gonna hit a car make it an expensive one |

I was rear ended in my Golf (mk4 R32) - took three months to sort, I had a 10 year old Micra "courtesy" car and it was repaired at a very dodgy shop - they did a decent job but it wasn't pleasant AND my insurance went right up despite being a no fault claim from the other parties insurance!!
It then got vandalised (failed attempt at nicking the wheels) - small dent in the front wing that broke the spoiler "clip" - whole new front end needed - £3k!!!!!!! Again I got killed by the insurers for daring to claim. Whatever you do, it's painful. Best of luck! |
