My car won't unlock....

My car won't unlock, either by keyfob, comfort access, or via the unlock button inside the car.. The only way I can get it to unlock is by manually using the key, and this only unlocks the drivers door... I called BMW assist and they couldn't help me out, they tried to send a signal to unlock but it didnt work.. I wouldn't be so stressed if I didnt have DP's in, I could just take it to the stealership and have them figure it out... Has anybody experienced this before or know whats happening? (btw, my DRL lights came on too... I disabled it so I can just use my angle eyes as DRL's, but I'm thinking my car reset itself because my memory seat isn't working either...

I just had this happen to me a few weeks ago. My right rear door actuator was bad along with two fuses. My ticket referenced an SIB about it. My locks work fine now.

I wouldn't bother taking the dp's out. Chances are your hood wont even be opened unless the tech tops off your fluids. One or more of your door latches have failed.

I have the same problem and have an appointment for service tomorrow. Many of my setting also reset - even the 6 preset buttons. The worst part - the fuel door is LOCKED and WILL NOT UNLOCK and my tank is almost empty, and I CANNOT PUT GAS IN THE CAR!

Good tip on the fuses (really). But unless you're Harry Houdini I challenge you to SEE what you are doing much less pull a fuse from the driver's side of the car. Would be *maybe* possible with the passeger door open and a low angle... oh, but that's right... the passenger door doesn't open.

This is also a HUGE safety issue!!

pull on the handle from the drivers side to open the passenger door.

open the trunk and pull down the battery access cover, you will see a green colored pull string (plastic) that is the manual release for the fuel door lock.

i had the same thing happen to me, BMW has a bulletin on this so they keep the parts ready.

quoted from the statement.

"replaced fuse 57. followed SI511907 and checked amps of all door lock actuators and fuel door lock"

"replace both front door lock actuators" (the rear doors work off of the front)

1 fuse
1 system latch, left
1 system latch, right

Just want everyone's opinion about this safety issue. In the case of emergency (fire or collision), the door fuse is blow or the actuator failed, and a baby in the back seat, everyone can only get out from the driver's door. Am I over-concerned? Just did some research and found this is the design for all the bimmers.

Hey guys, I think this is a really big safety issue. I just had this happen and filed a complaint with NHTSA. BMW needs to fix this permanently and have a manual release for the door locks. If there is a crash people need to be able to open the doors.
